Shame on you Samsung Exynos vs. Snapdragon comparison.

JerryRig just uploaded, crazy you pay the same amount for a vastly different phone, pretty shady Samsung. Also the Snapdragon Note10+ has better benchmark scores than the Exynos Note20 Ultra.

Regardless of that and other articles, I'm still enjoying my Exynos Note 20 Ultra big time :-)

When the S20s were launched with the SD and Exynos it wasn't until after launch that users realized the performance gap. Whether Samsung knew... whether like the 100x Space Zoom camera was half baked and figured it was fixable after launch with software updates(??)... we''ll never know.

But after knowing though... to release the Note 20 with the two processors??

I think the Exynos owners really won't notice the difference... only 10% difference I believe people are saying. And they gave them double the storage to compensate.

But they only went with one processor with the Fold 2...

And their home market South Korea who usually get the Euro spec'd versions... they got the SD version too right??

I seem to recall that SD was used in the US and certain countries beacause of LTE and how Exynos was not compatible. It was also noted that Exynos was faster than SD back then but no one went bat **** crazy - I guess because it only affected the Americas, China, as somewhere else. I recall even in posts here about some folks in the US wanting to buy the Exynos version and have it shipped to the US. But it really makes me wonder - why weren't more people bothered by this performance difference when it was the SD version that lagged behind Exynos?

I don't know if those LTE limitations still exist but if they don't, I agree that Samsung needs to stop this nonsense and just make the same damned phone in all regions (sans certain things that don't affect performance - like dual SIMs, etc.) and also include the same damned accessories too (it's like all phone manufacturers think including a case is only desirable outside of the Americas).

At the end of the day, I think people won't notice the difference much between the two in real world usage, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't be getting different innards, either.

How much of a difference really is there between the two chips? I don't see any big deal it's just the way samsung purchases it's chips for different regions.

There is enough of a difference in benchmarks to take note.

I think the biggest is the battery efficiency. Exynos eats batteries faster than Snapdragon.

The average consumer doesn't what the chips are called unless they read tech articles and is probably unware of the difference. I'm not excusing Samsung, but I think it's a small community that cares and that may be the reason it doesn't change.

The performance doesn't really bother me, its battery life that bothers me. My Note 20 Ultra battery lately seems to be showing more usage that my Note 10+ did while using it for the same things, I'm probably talking around 5% difference over a day.
I thought the battery life on both phones was roughly the same until this week and it seemed to tank, overnight I'm losing around 3% battery which is fine but from then on with little screen on time its using much more.

I agree with some posts saying Qualcom were the weaker chip and Exynos better a while back. I also understand that Qualcom need a competitor to keep prices down and also Exynos not working well in some areas, which makes for an interesting dilemma.

So I agree with Jerry, if the phones have different parts they should be called something different., ie Note 20+ and Note 20 Ultra and price them accordingly, with similar storage options.

For me, I'm hanging on to the Note 20 Ultra, it lasts me all day and does what I want but this does leave a sour taste for sure, especially when the Galaxy Z Fold 2 use Snapdragon 865+ in all regions!

Despite all of this griping and nitpicking. I still love mine. Yes I have the Snapdragon, but the S6 was Exynos and I still enjoyed it too. Never had a problem with any of them and I've been buying them since the S4. On the other hand both the Motorola Droid and Bionic I owned had to be replaced from hardware failure. They did replace them free of charge though.

LG is like hold my beer, they put a mediatek chip in the T-Mobile LG Velvet instead of SD 765. Hate when companies do different hardware versions, firmware etc for the same model but as few others have mentioned normal people don't care about this and only very small tech minority like us cares. But still I'm all in for criticizing them.

It will be always a difference when the temperature is taken by the IR thermometer from the differently colored surfaces. The white will be cooler. He should use the phones with same color.

This^^^^

I sold hundreds of phones, only a few people understood what a SOC was. Most consumers are clueless and/ or don't care. We are a community of Android enthusiasts aka tech nerds.

Reviews I saw from the S20 showed Exynos had better standby battery life while snap dragon had better power consumption under load and performed better in benchmarks.

Yeah well weird thing is all Z Fold are Snapdragon, so Samsung could of give UK Snapdragon as well on the S Series and Note Series.

Of course you're happy... you have the SD version. And the Exynos was stronger back in the S6 days and S7... wasn't until S8 SD stayed on top.

The average person will be happy because they won't know the difference.

I've been dealing with the snapdragon all these years underpowered and just went with the flow, for you Exynos people for most part going be ok.

If only the Exynos was available to me I'd still be okay with it. And I'm as much of a tech nerd as anyone. If it bothered me that bad I just wouldn't purchase it personally. Should they have used the same for both? Sure. But I'm sure there has to be a reason why they didn't. I would be curious to know that reason. Most aren't going to notice that difference. Outside of the 120hz refresh rate, my S10+ felt just as speedy as this phone does even though it's running the SD855. I never had a glitch with it either.
