A few mundane images from my winter yard. Quite frankly I'm more than impressed with the quality of the Nexus 5 camera!

Those are gorgeous.

My pleasure, I've also noticed that uploading to instragram via this app solves many of the problems people had with android instagram in the past.

Not sure what the black circle you mention is but I'll look into it. Most disappointing thing about the android version is the lack of two finger exposure and focus control. I had no idea Android doesn't allow spot metering, anyone know why this is?

After shooting over 100 photos today, I am very impressed with VSCO. There are some cases where I wish I had HDR, but for the most part VSCO is now my go to photo app. It's solved the shutter lag issue, and the photos are great. Once again, thank you so much for pointing me in that direction, as photos are ONE of the main features I use with my smartphone as I take well over 1,000 a month for my job. I tried the Lumia 1020 (couldn't stand MS OS), iP5 (wife's), Moto X (brother's), and other different brands my friends have, but the N5 was the phone for me.

I think the black circle let's you take a photo by tapping anywhere on the screen. I just played around with it and when the red box is on, if I touch the screen, it takes a photo.

I only took three photos inside. Nothing special. I saw the AC post about this app and it got me curious. Then I read your post and the other guys and figured I'd give it a shot. It seems faster, but I haven't really tested it. I'm going to trust your experience and use it for a while.

Does the OIS come into play with third party camera apps? I know hrd+ doesn't.

I am thinking of snapping pictures while recording to get a quick capture of action shots....

I am looking forward to taking some better photos this Holiday season with the N5. I don't own a fancy camera... I'm cool with the camera quality on my phones.

I don't think so. I tested a pic using both apps while moving the camera slowly. The stock app with HDR on caught a motion free picture, while VSCO came out blurry. There still doesn't appear to be one app that does it all, but overall I like VSCO the best so far.

Snapped this yesterday. Stock camera and built in filter. Kinda cool. My daughters foot. She's 1month old. My hands are large lol, I'm 6'7".

These are a sampling of shots I've taken with my N5 rooted and with the ver 1.3 camera fix mod:

Bear paws! :) For some, the 5" screen phones are too big to use with one hand, but for me (and likely for you), I need the 5" screen for the larger keyboard.... and it's easier to see the older I get! I'm at the border between XL and XXL gloves, so the N5 is the perfect size for me.

Congrats on your daughter!!

Big phones are definitely more user friendly for me. A Note looks like a "normal" size phone in my hand lol. A iPhone feels like a business card in my hand, I need to use 1 pinky to type on my friends lol.

Thanks and twin daughters actually... This is just "thing 2" I'm holding in the photo, "thing 1" was sleeping on her mother lol....

Look at the sharpness of this closeup. Indoors low light. This camera is amazing.

Hmm... The sharpness of this uploaded image isn't anything close to the original.

The focus on the camera is starting to annoy me.

I have no problem with most scenery shots where the items are 20+ feet away.

But when taking photos of things 5 or so feet away I'll snap some shots (both regular and hdr+) and find out the focus is a bit off. Yes, the focus looks fine when looking at the images on the little N5 screen. But if you zoom if or view on a larger screen, the fuzziness becomes apparent. Then I have to re-take the shot and be a little more careful.
There is an update to Kit Kat 4.4.1 that is rolling out. This should fix everything on the focus.
