So if customs is really checking each device and handling our phones before we do, does that mean our phones won't really be in "new" condition? I'm already envisioning getting a delivery of an already opened and re-sealed box with a phone that has fingerprints and smudges all over it. Hope I'm wrong though.

You got a point there... Hope this doesn't happen... Kind of reminds you of times BB and other 3rd party retailers have been caught opening and playing with a device then selling it....

I remember one in particular where it happened at BB, customer purchased the phone and noticed the package wasn't sealed but seemed to be in new condition only to turn it on and find a picture of another BB employee (wearing a BB shirt no less) on the device taken earlier in the day.... B U S T E D!

Exactly. At this point I think my biggest concern is no longer the wait, but the condition that our "new" phones will be in. This whole situations blows.

They aren't going to open every box. Get real. I'd rather just know when it's going to hit my doorstep.

Again, I hope I'm wrong. But for anyone to make ANY assumptions about ANY steps of this whole messed up process would be a mistake. None of us know what exactly is going on over at customs. Just being real.

they are at least hundred of thousands of various HTC phones being imported (if not more) now. There is no way they open even a tenth of the boxes to check them.

They aren't opening every box
I think we understand your point. I believe the comment was originally made because I'm sure somewhere along the way a few were opened and there is a chance some unfortunate person will end up with one of these "new" opened, devices by customs personnel.

Back on topic anyways... Still waiting for that first official shipping update notice... Screenshot/picture hopefully as proof when it does materialize ;)

My luck I will get one that WAS opened and they took pictures with it too...Assholes...I already know what the first thing is I want to take a picture of, and its not of some US Customs Agent...It will be of my little Special Agent...

Even if they are only opening an extremely small fraction of the boxes, will that make you feel any better if you happen to receive one of those "lucky" inspected ones that shows clear tampering with? I guess we're just hoping to not have bad luck at this point.

Not to mention the fact that you'll have TONS of clearly visible fingerprints on it :-/

Jeez, they're not searching for contraband! None of our boxes will be opened or touched by anyone, after the initial packaging.

I thought they said they are inspecting each model not unit. Though I could be wrong

Sprint hasn't updated their site to show that the phone is available again, or that they are accepting orders. That is not a good sign. You would expect that to have been one of the first things they would do after clearing customs. After all, they are in the business of selling goods and services.
