I'm seeing a lot of issues on the web (battery dying, bricks, texting issues, etc). Did people update successfully without issues? I'm tired of postponing this thing every day, wish I could just dismiss it until I decide I want to update.

Welcome to the forums! Which update are you talking about? From M to N?
It's a huge one 1.2gig, it has good points and bad points. Mine went into bootloop and had to go to Samsung to get sorted. It's going great now.
Entirely your call. Marshmallow is the best version so far in my opinion, personally I wouldn't bother to go to Nougat....

Personally I love the Nougat update. A lot of people's hate seems to be just from the cosmetic change.

However, I have the luxury of not being in the US, where the only thing my carrier does to the phone is change the boot animation and place a carrier lock. Even hotspot function is unlocked out of the box. I understand that US carriers put a lot of changes in their firmware, so still your call.

So if I don't want to update to nougat how can I stop the update .... well besides constantly saying not now everday

Thanks.... that makes sense, I should have thought of that... Duh

You can turn off auto update but after a refusing to update after a few prompts, you will be forced to update.

There are several things you can disable using package disabler pro or similar app. I am not sure what those processes are now but I was able to find them by doing a Google search. It got rid of the status bar icon that will be permanent up there unless you disable some things.
