Should I preorder or wait?

Yes, I am very excited about the Nexus 4. But going with history, the first batch of devices usually ridden with production misshaps. Case in point the HTC one S, the nexus 7 et al.
Now, I am in Africa, so once i buy the device there will be no returning it (3rd world problems)
So should I wait for maybe a second or third batch so that they finish ironing out the manufacturing kinks?

As far as manufacturing kinks, I'd doubt that there's going to be any serious issue that would affect early units. Anything bought in the first month has likely already been made, and Google isn't going to have the manufacturing process drastically changed for later devices.

For me having to wait after I was one first to pre-order to have people after me get there device before me pissed me off.

After getting tagged with $$$$ shipping for my Nexus 7 and still getting it AFTER B&M purchasers AND had to hassle for three weeks about getting a replacement for the absolutely defective screen, I'm not buying online. However, are these going to be available in B&M stores?

Exactly! Production issues will be there. A seat n wait approach will kill me, but i needs to know about production issues
