@Ragnarianrok: have you tried the PRO mode on the camera yet?

I have but I do want a reliable point and shoot.

Recently, I turned off "Scene Optimizer" and I think I'm getting better results?

What exactly is Scene Optimizer, does anyone know? Is it what creates that over-smoothing on skin?

I'm hoping to get more real world use this weekend with that turned off and hoping the results will be better. I also may just have to own up to the fact that I have to manually adjust for better contrast in my still photography with this device. It may be a small enough inconvenience to live with. Same with the slightly slower shutter speed... may just have to live with that, too.

Because I'm enjoying the device everywhere else...

Scene optimizer is basically Samsung's idea of AI like on Huawei phones or Sony's Intelligent auto which is supposed to recognise scenes and adjust picture quality accordingly. I always turn this off

one would think that the scene optimizer is to apply smoothing on textures and hair and skin and such.

Phone arrived so I decided to test the camera first thing, my complaint usually is over exposure on Samsung devices and it seems this phone does not suffer from that. I have not tested brighter sunlight yet which may make a difference. I often wonder if there is just some sample variation in these devices because some cameras work well and other not so well. I am happy with what I see thus far though. Here are three photos, the first 2 unedited other than a crop right out of the phone, one indoors where it shows nice clarity and sharpness and detail in fur and fabric. The second is two bears outside and the white bear was not over exposed and there is good fur detail. The last is an outdoor shot of my dog that I then edited on my computer software to see how it would hold up and it looks great. These are full size so you can click on them to see larger versions, hopefully the quality remains after upload cause they look great on my computer.

They look great, I wouldn't be surprised some markets have Samsung camera module and others gave Sony like in the past .

Amazing!

Didn't spend too much time outdoors, (baby it's COLD outside), but managed to snap a few shots. A couple are at 64 MP. Overall they are sharp but not overly so with decent color reproduction. Dynamic range seems to be on par too with highlights and low lit areas being balanced out with no blowouts or shadow crushing. It's early but it looks to be a very good shooter!

Wow! These are fantastic, and more in line with the samples we were seeing from reviewers.
Gorgeous doggo too. ??????

Upgraded from the S10 to S21. Marginal improvement, nothing mind blowing. No editing except resizing

I am posting the 100% crop after each pic

I took two shots with the camera on 1x and 0.6x. The sun was going down and I think that the color is right. I did some pixel peeping and I'm satisficed with the sharpness.

Since that 2nd update I got yesterday I've noticed standby battery drain and general battery usage improved. Also signal seems stronger but as for camera improvements which was stated in 2nd update I can't tell yet as it's been night time since

The moon shot. Wow. The low light pics in my back yard are good. Not quite a good as my Pixel 4xl or 12 Pro Max and on par with my N20 Ultra. Can't wait to test it out some more this weekend. 20210129_224515.jpg20210129_224249.jpg20210129_224239.jpg
