Seriously, you guys watch your phones boot?

I am missing something here. Someone please explain to me what this does. Is it simply changing the graphics displayed while powering on / off? Really?

Wow, there is NO END to how obsessive we can get - I LOVE IT! Seriously, I thought a blackberry was something to obsess about.... changing the boot up screens, that's ... that's ... I don't know what the word is... cool, I suppose.

Lol yeah in essence all the animation is on start up is a .png that people create and push to their phone. And I agree COMPLETELY with you about the Blackberry thing lol. My wife is all the time saying "When are you just going to be satisfied with the way you set your phone up" lol. This coming from a woman who only uses one home screen on the phone ;)

Hey everyone. Just FYI but you don't need the Android SDK (Software Developers Kit) or any knowlege of the adb shell (Android Debuging Shell). All you need is the Root File Manager (Must be rooted to use) then just download the file, make sure it's called bootanimation.zip, unzip it, move it to data/local (This isn't a location in the SD card but actually the file system of the phone itself). If you use a file manager and look at the location youre at in the screen it will say something like /sdcard/ it SHOULD say "/" and then you find the "data" folder and then the "local" folder. Hope this helps.

no you don't need root.. my phone isn't rooted and I've changed the bootanimation at least 5 times

If you have Bugless Beast rom on your Droid, it has a toolkit that will switch your boot animation to whatever bootanimation.zip file you have on your SD card.
