Signed Bootloader, are you still getting it?

This doesn't bother me at all. I've never rooted my 4G, I don't see any reason to root the 3D.

Well a darn good reason is I bought the $15 SPB Shell 3D app in the market. It totally blows HTC Sense out of the water. So I don't want to run Sense in the background when running Shell 3D.

This might be the thing that keeps me from buying the 3d. Vannila android sound pretty good right now. I will wait and see how this plays out.

Agreed, and I hate the fact that they charged for something long after I began using it. I've been using it on my hero since a month after the hero launched so it's too late in my eyes. There was no problem before why try to stop it now. Also why are they only charging for android devices, I'm pretty sure other Os's can also tether. et.Windows phone,Palm

I agree teathering should be free, but I think if there gonna go and charge for it they should charge 5 to 10 a month not 30 that's almost the same as buying a mifi and paying for that

Right before the Evo launched, Sprint's official stance was that tethering is included in unlimited data, but you have to pay to use their awesome app that lets you have 8 devices online at the same time.

If they are going to start blocking tethering and forcing you to pay extra for it, then they need to stop airing those stupid unlimited commercials and let us all out of our contracts with no ETF.

Been tethering with Sprint for years using PDANet with no ill will. Sprint is just the best when it comes to data and not being dicks about it. You've all heard about ATT tracking people down right?

Crazy. Trust me, the EVO 3D will be fine. At the worst I'll use PDANet...no big deal

Before I rooted my EVO 4G I used EasyTether and it worked great. I still haven't completely decided whether or not to get the EVO 3D but I am still leaning toward it. While I enjoy rooting and installing custom ROMs periodically (I experimented a lot with my Optimus S before rooting my EVO) it can get to be a hassle to stay current with updates and ROMs and worrying about accepting OTA's without losing root and all that. I will still have my rooted Optimus to play with, so if I can tether using EasyTether then I'll be ok.

I also agree that Sprint is excellent when it comes to keeping their word about unlimited data usage. No, I don't stream Netflix all the time but I am on the internet quite a bit and not a peep from them about it.

Has everyone seen the new HTC Facebook update?

"There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we've listened. Today, I'm confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience," Peter Chou, CEO of HTC

Major props to HTC. I am surprised at how fast they made that move. They were already at the top of my list and now they are miles above the competition.

And I would encourage everyone with a Facebook account to leave a message thanking HTC for making the right decision. We loudly told them that we didn't want locked bootloaders, now that they have given us what we want we should all show our gratitude.

HTC is just flat out awesome. So happy I can go back to buying this phone (and probably every HTC phone that succeeds it) without any second thoughts.

Just curious... what makes everyone so certain that the 3D is going to be shipped with an unlocked bootloader? These units could already be manufactured and ready to ship. If so, this new unlocked bootloader policy could just pertain to future devices. Unless, of course, there were a way via update to make the unlocking retroactive. Regardless, it could be a while before the 3D sees an unlocked bootloader if they are already manufactured and ready to go.

This makes me incredibly happy. I was actually thinking about getting a Samsung phone! Can't believe it.

For sure now this is the phone I want to get. Htc seem alot more resonsive than hp is.

Evo3d hasn't come out yet, there's no way they would make that announcement and then make that phone with a locked bootloader.
