Simple Fast Root Method With Rooted 1.47.651.1 Stock ROM with NO ADBs...Check Here!

Thanks for the help...I think I got Clockwork, and the 1.47 rooted and go the SU to run...

I'm trying to get the ROM mangaer working, and it keeps telling me there was "an error while flashing your recovery" when I try to use it...Clockwork was what I saw on the hboot, but this no go...

I believe I am rooted, root explorer has read/write access...

I would head over to xda forum and take a look at Clockworks thread...I'm sure there is a answer to your question! Im sorry I couldn't be more help on this particular issue.

did you see an error on step 3? I used to get a sd card error and during step 4, it would stay there.

I'm stuck on step 4 "Starting part 2"! Nothing is happening... HELP!!!

I got this too and it took me 5-6 times of trying various things to get it to work. The way I fixed it was to clean all root files then ensure that Wifi was enabled before I got to Step 3. Make sure you don't see any error messages in Step 3 and you should be good when you do Step 4.

Good luck!

can someone please help? i completed the simple fast root method, but i have no ideal on how to flash a new rom?

I restarted the whole process again and it worked perfectly. I realized i missed 1 step when instructed. I forgot to refresh the flash site page the first time. Not sure this was the problem but it worked the second time so.....

Go to the second link and it explains it...or alternatively go to one of the ROM pages at XDA for explaination for that particular ROM.

Yes if you get stuck on step 4 where it says starting part 2...something didn't go right so go back and restart step 2. It usually has to do with not touching or too slow to touch the Flash game on the site you load. The first time for me it hung there. The second time went through in like 20 seconds. It will give you a weird looking string of numbers and words after completing.

Happened to me also

I had the same problem, it hung on that part 2 page for 45 minutes before i aborted and started over. The second time it went through immediately.

Noob question ( Man, the Pre was easier to understand...): I've done the step by step and everything seems to be working because i can run apps that require root but how can you tell if you are rooted and NAND is unlocked? I'm trying to get ROM manager to download ROMs but I need to install ClockworkMod Recovery. It won't install because it says " An error occured while attempting to run privileged commands". I can't tell why this is happening. Am I rooted? Is NAND unlocked? Plus i don't see the Superuser permission thingy I had with unrevoked. ANY IDEAS?????

After you were finished with all the steps in simple root. Did you flash the recovery?
If not, go to extras is on the top, next to file. Choose the recovery that you want, I prefer clockwork. Once you have the recovery install, you can flash any rom.

Ps. The software version that you are running is old, you should flash a newer rom.

You are fully rooted with nand unlocked. The SU app generally comes with the roms...with the image that came with Simple Root probably doesn't come with it. So now your next step...I would install the image in the second link to bring everything up to date. It has RA's recovery included, so it's installed along with everything else. Then retry clockwork. The 2nd link only take 5-10 mins. It's like installing an update manually.

I am getting this message from the second step.

sh: Can't open/sdcard/part1
press any key to continue...
then it closes

change the SD card (make sure is empty) or switch between disk drive and recharge only.
try that, it might help. when i got a similar error, I switch to another SD car.

Make sure you have it set to charge only and debugging enabled. If this doesn't work click on Extras>clean-root files. And start step one over again.

I started the whole process over again and it worked. I am not sure what I did wrong the first time. Thank you both for the help though.

now on to the rom.

I am at the second part of installing the rom and when I hit recovery it pulls up a small picture of a phone with a red triangle over the top. Any advice?

I got it to work. I named the first zip with img.zip and apparently that was messing things up. Thanks to those that helped.
