Hmm, this may be getting somewhere useful, though. How are you setting vibrate only mode?
Using the volume rocker on the side of the phone.

OK, try a couple of different things. Use the rocker to set a non-zero volume, then slide down the notification bar and use the Sound toggle to set vibrate mode.
If you still have the issue, go into Settings / Sound / Volume, and set each of the sliders there down to zero individually. If you set them all to zero, and get the random vibration, try setting them down one at a time (or maybe all except one at a time), and see what happens.
While you're in the Sounds menu, see if you have a setting for "Auto haptic." If so, make sure it's set to off. Also, if Touch sounds is checked, you might want to try unchecking it. (I don't think either of these settings should cause what you're seeing, but it's such a weird bug who knows....)

It probably isn't what you did wrong, maybe it's a new application or process that runs randomly in the background or runs when a condition is met.

After reading the amount of attempts you've made to fix this (which has me giggling in the office) I went to another site and they recommended I check the Google+ settings. I've turned off notifications and the vibrations have gone! I Hope this helps you![]()
not that simple. no. i've had that setting off since i got the phone.Just go to settings and switch motion off. That simple. yes.
i think this is the issue. it seems to happen the most when i'm areas with dodgy service (basements etc). if someone knows how to make this stop, that would be fantastic, because it's really obnoxious. My phone has been doing the same thing since the latest update. I think it has to do with when my phone gets and loses service. I just don't know how to turn off this useless notification.
I caught mine doing it while it was on. It wasn't "vibrating", something was turning the volume off, then switching it back to vibrate. The switch back to vibrate made it vibrate. I have Call Control installed, and I noticed that the software switches the volume off when it blocks a call...but this vibrates other times as well. Anyone with this issue also using Call Control?
