Size. Matters.

I prefer Note / Phablet sizes so anywhere from 5.5 to 5.8 is fine by me.

I waffle back and forth regarding smartphone size. I used to love big phones with large screens and higher resolutions. I didn't go that route this time. I wanted something that was easier to hold with one hand. I love gesture typing with my thumb in one hand and the smaller size helps with that. Love it. Got a regular sized Pixel. Best phone I have ever had.

It really does matter. For me, the sweet spot is 4.7" screen size for phones. Great for one handed usage, but still small enough to fit "fake" pockets somewhat. 5.2" is the biggest I would go but I have learned that all 5.2" phones are not equal when it comes to how good they are when it comes to one handed usage.

Ideally, a phone where I can use it one handed without shifting it around (much, if at all) and touch all of the corners is the best.

Couldn't agree more with you. Not all 5.2's are created equal that's for sure. Pocketability and one handed (comfortable) use are extremely important to me as well.

Just curious ... what 4.7 device are you using?

I never thought I'd like big phones, since I was used to 4.7", but I got a 5.7" phone, and it works great for me.

I like the bigger screen since it's easier to see. The thing is my MXPE has very small bezels, and I use thin TPU cases, so there isn't a lot of bulk. I'm still able to get it in my pockets, and I wear regular fit jeans, not skinny jeans but not baggy jeans either.

I've never used a phone one-handed anyway.

The Motorola X Pure is a fantastic device. I've always been a jeans front or shirt pocket kind of guy so anything bigger than 5.2 (Sapphire Honor 8) just looks and feels SO odd to me.

My one handed use is an old habit I suppose. It's just nice to be able to reach any corner or area on my screen to quickly get to things.

Completely agree. Glad to hear about the positive experience with the Regular Pixel. It's been sitting in my Google shopping cart for days .... Just can't seem to commit to hitting the "Order" tab.

Not an Android haha, actually a Lumia 550, but I also have an iPhone SE and an Honor 8. I can use the Honor 8 mostly one handed, but the top corners are a no-go. It's a heck of a phone though, and I wish it was smaller lol.

The Pixel seems like it would be nice for me, but not this year.

I would definitely recommend it. It looks like an iPhone. Feels like an iPhone. And fluid like an iPhone, but running Android. Dream come true for me.

Windows Phone is a great OS, much like BlackBerry 10. Such a damn shame.

I love my Honor 8 too. I alternate between that and a Dtek50.

Here's my MXPE in my left front pocket.

It doesn't fit too rightly.

Nice! I agree with you on that OS. I missed the smaller size so I'm using it until I get annoyed with having to do workarounds for apps.
Seriously though, I am a chronic switcher so having one of each usually works out just fine for me when I get annoyed with something about one of my other phones.

I like Toys. Toys are fun. Holy Smokes! 6.5?! I have to ask .... What device are you on now?
It was a joke. I actually prefer small phones. I use Moto E 1st gen with 4.3 inch screen and i still can't reach the top left corner of the screen with my thumb. Just barely able to use it one handed.

Ha Ha. I'm stupid. I struggle sometimes to pick up the right tone in text.

No idea why, but I love "Small" phones.

Hmm. Does seem to fit quite nicely. Although, as OCD as I am ... It would drive me nuts to have part of my phone sticking out of my pocket like that.

It goes all the way in without any bulges. The second picture was my attempt to show that, but the front facing camera on my Nexus 7 didn't do a very good job.

The jeans are guy's 501.

I've tried all phone sizes over the years and always end up back at 5"-5.2" so I agree that 5.2" is just about perfect for me.

My 5" Pixel is big enough to do everything I want it to do and still be comfortable and portable. If I want a proper gaming session I use my PS4. If I want to watch one of Michael Fisher's excellent reviews of another phone I don't need, then I have a Chromecast.

5.2 seems to be my sweet spot as far as comfort, management and pocketability (is that even a word?).

It's a shame that all these new, exciting flagships are all teasing around the 6 inch + range. Honestly, I struggle with anything that big.

What's YOUR sweet spot?

This is interesting is a couple of ways. The original galaxy Note was 5.3 inches. It was a massive device that people crossed their eyes at. Now 5.2 is the norm. I had the Note 3 and Note 4. I loved those phones but after a while the "pocketability" gets to be a struggle. It's uncomfortable and difficult to take out of your pocket. Yes, I can get a holster, but at that point I'm compromising. I used the S-pen a lot, but I've slowly grown accustomed to the lack thereof in my G5. They'll always have the 5.1-5.3" devices. It's a sweet spot for the majority of consumers so I wouldn't worry about it.

Seeing the manufacturers build these huge devices sure is cool though. I know I'll eventually get another Samsung Note, but who knows when.
