The iPhone emoji replies work on the Samsung skinned beta release.

Other than the colors (the open beta was colored with the overall system theme I have assigned via the hex app) and the space at the top of the main screen (which can be swiped up), I would guess everything else in the Samsung beta is the same as the open. For the convenience of being able to update via Play, I'll stay with Samsung now.

Is there a setting I need to enable or something?

Interesting. I saw that while Googling, but I don't have that option? I wonder if I should either uninstall and reinstall the Beta from Play Store or reset the data in the app?

Edit: Clearing the data didn't bring me that iPhone option. Weird!?

I'm a beta tester for the Google Messages app and I don't have that iphone reaction feature either. Anyone have the link or apk?

I don't have it either, but this got me thinking. A previous message above said the latest beta is: messages.android_20220304_03_RC00.phone.openbeta_dynamic. But the messages app on my phone is: messages.android_20220304_03_RC00.phone.samsung_dynamic

So even though I thought I was on the beta version, I am not, I guess. I am a beta tester but must have installed the wrong version? Maybe others have done the same?

Can someone post exactly where and how are the correct locations and steps to install the "openbeta" version. I obviously have done it wrong. Thanks.

It is all so confusing. If I go to the playstore it shows me as a beta tester. But if I open the app right from that very page, I get the above "samsung" not "openbeta" version opening.

Maybe the "openbeta" version is only for people who do not have Samsung phones? So on the S22 we can not use that version?

If that last statement is correct, then I do indeed have the correct version as a Messages beta tester on a Smasung phone. And in that case I can confirm the no, with the version of the beta I have, the iPhone emojis are not showing up and I do not have a toggle for then under Settings>Advanced. I also do not see when a person, iPhone user or not, is typing. And I only see if the latest message in the most recent thread has been delivered. Not any others or whether a message has been read.

That Samsung version is the same as the open beta version (with Samsungs skinning, etc.). It was released the day after the open beta version. I had the open beta and now the Samsung variant installed and both worked with iPhone emoji replies. If you're a beta tester and you have the latest version installed, I don't think the app itself is the issue.

Are you sure you have the chat features enabled (Settings > Chat features)?

I'm on Verizon. I tested this with my daughter, who is also on Verizon. I don't think carrier is supposed to matter, but someone was talking about AT&T in paricular messing around with this functionality. Are you on AT&T, or is the person with whom you're messaging?

Maybe it's a server side update that hasn't rolled out to you yet?

Those are the only factors I can think of that would keep you from seeing the iPhone repliers toggle in advanced settings.

How do I know if I have the latest beta? Do you have the link? I have the Google Messages app in which was pre installed on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

If you've joined the Beta on the Messages page in the Google Play store, it will prompt you to update to the latest version. Your Play Store page will then say "Messages (Beta)".

Same here. I'm still getting the "Liked" message, no emojis.

So, it won't come with an update of the app. Given that, I wonder if it even matters if you have the beta or non-beta since they announced it's coming for everyone.

I was not real familiar with the term "server side update" so I did some searching and now kind of understand. But what I don't get is how it is determined who and when gets what? If I install the Beta APK I have all the features just like I did on my Pixel 6 Pro. I do wish I would have it on Samsung so I could just take updates

I am a beta also for Google Messages and if I install the beta apk it will say install failed. How did you actually download the apk? Can you send me the link please.

Luck? I haven't done anything in particular to pull the feature to my phone. Unless reverting to the open beta made some sort of difference (I'm back on the Sasmung variant now). I doubt that since there are people in this thread who have the open beta and not the iPhone reactions feature.

Not true. I have the iPhone reactions on the Samsung version. I had previously installed the open beta as you describe and had the reactions there first, but after I took the update in Play (the Sasmung variant) the feature still works.

In the attached screenshot, the pizza message was sent and replied to while on the open beta. Then I installed the Samsung variant and tried again.

I'm even more sure now this is a server side update. Keep the app updated and wait.

Before you try to install the open beta, you have to go into your phone settings > apps > Messages and remove updates via the menun in the upp-er right corner.
