Well, Qik does too. But I'm saying that the guys over at XDA will tweak the Skype app so that it functions over 3G

if developers can do it, then why in the world would Verizon not enable it? Sounds strange to me.

Because Verizon probably doesn't want all that data traffic going over 3G and pounding their network, so they turn it off unless you're on LTE which can handle the increased bandwidth.

Same thing with the Incredible's tethering ability. Verizon shut it off by default unless you paid for their proprietary app, but a simple tweak that can be done by anybody enabled it

If you can do skype video on the iphone over 3G I don't see why you couldn't do the same on the thunderbolt, especially since many people who will be buying the bolt won't be in a 4G area.

The iphone can NOT do video chats over 3g ONLY wifi!

the fact that the tbolt and evo can to video chat out of a wifi area is a +1 over the *phone

You are WRONG! My wife has a verizon iphone, I have used video chat as recently as Saturday. Skype themselves even says you can!
