Sleep tracking on Gear s2...

Well, interesting: I'd been going by old info that the Gear S2 didn't support sleep tracking, and so I decided to try out the Gear Fit2 instead. It sounds like the Gear S2 is pretty much identical to the Fit2 in this respect, while of course offering up the other advantages. Sounds like I might need to give it a try after all, since sleep tracking was the one thing I thought it was missing.

Sorry I know I'm coming in WAY late, but just saw this post pop up as a search result on Google and couldn't help but reply.

That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard -- returning a watch because it doesn't "track your sleep." Really? Either you like the watch or you don't. Why in the world do you need something to tell you how long you've slept. Here's a thought -- take a look at the clock before you go to sleep and then again when you wake up. There, problem solved.

Sheesh, what is this world coming to?!

When you buy a smartwatch (particularly a "non-essential" purchase) you certainly want it to work in all the ways it is supposed to work. I don't think it's ridiculous to return a watch that doesn't do one of its core functions. And, BTW, sleep tracking is about more than just the number of hours of sleep. Most of them (like my Alta) track sleep and quality of sleep (restless hours, # of times awake @ night, time to fall asleep). So, it is not just look at the clock and track my hours. Also, if I just wanted to track hours of sleep I wouldn't buy a smartwatch that does it.

After a few months with the Gear Fit 2, I went over to Fitbit. The package for them is much more solid and includes very accurate sleep and sleep stages - something I had been hoping for from Samsung. I have actually just returned my Gear S3 with a gevey heart for the same reason, and now await the new Fitbit smart watch. to be honest, I'd prefer to go back to the Fit 2, but I don't think S Health will have changed at all
