I simply use Slingbox all the time when out on errands to listen to my cable box.

Can't live without it :)

Im using a Treo 700p to sling now.

I know the Android Slingbox app is in private Beta...any one have a clue as to it's release date?

Before June 4 ?

Thanks :)

The real question. Do I have to pay for it again? Dish Network actually gave me a credit to download it to my iNanny, so I don't mind paying for it on Android.

I asked Sling before, if already have Blackbery version, can transfer it to iPhone version? They said no, since iPhone version is controlled by Apple. But I can transfer my Blackberry to Windows Mobile, Palm, etc. Maybe it's possible to transfer it to Android version also?

That would be cool...I have usb modem (tethering software) for palm and they said Android is a free upgrade :)

I will buy the EVO on June 4 if Slingbox for Android is out then....are there any Beta testers here???

Thanks :)

I just use my Tivo to transfer my recorded shows on my desktop then I can convert then and play on the phone. Probably not as simple as Slingbox but it will do the job for me.. I'll be watching shows at work on my dinner break when not surfing the web or just playing with the phone.

Ya I am really waiting for the Android slingbox version. I have tried to find the private beta apk somewhere online but had no luck.

I use it to stream Fox News / Local TV news and Whatever, HBO on Demand....mad men....I use it for the audio content of the video stream....I even have my security cameras connected to one of the (four) imputs....

I want the EVO but can't live with out Slingbox...I should just 'relax'...it IS in beta...it would just be nice to have it by June 4.

:)

I am in the same boat, I was hoping Slingplayer for Android would be released before the EVO. Looks like we may have to tough it out for a little bit folks! I searched high and low for the "private" beta too with no luck.

OP, if you are coming over from a 700p, dont worry, you will have plenty of stuff to play with until Sling makes its way to Android.

I use my Sling Player all the time on my Touch Pro 2. Hopefully that Android version gets released right before the Evo, and the WinMo license transfers over to Android for free.

I wonder how many beta testers there are??? I guess they don't want too many because if it messes up the unit they'll have to unscramble it ....

I'm in the same boat, I'm waiting on slingbox, and a sirius app... If I jump the gun and get a EVO before those two apps are released I know I'm gonna regret it big time...

As with previous news reports, Sling is working on a private beta for the Android OS.

Not sure what all that entails, but at least reports are starting to come out. So one could guess that it wouldn't be that long of a wait!

as far as sirius goes, why not get rhapsody or napster instead? stream exactly what you want to listen to..

no need to worry, i'm waiting for the same....either the player or flash 10.1 will allow us to watch sling on android sometime this summer. flash 10.1 should be able to allow us to watch the web version at the very least, Sling.com
