So both these articles say the S2 is better

Bugs with what? AOSP gets what Google sends to Nexus devices. So can there be bugs? Sure. More likely to see bug fixes though.

So about the same time the bugs are worked out S2 will be getting it.

Not really. AOSP will always be ahead on bugfixes.

The manufacturers choose a branch and do a code freeze, then work off that. Meanwhile, Google keeps pumping out the fixes and enhancements. Those, you will not get until another future update, if at all.

and you dont have to wait for manufacture to give it to carrier and then release right?

Are you just in this thread to troll every single person who posts in it? It seems that no matter what someone says you have a negative response to it even after stating you don't know much because you're new. Adrynalyne knows his stuff, he's a well know developer so there's no need to question when he says there will be no need to hack the Nexus. Plus that's the main attraction to the Nexus for the majority of us. We can OEM unlock the device and get AOSP updates straight from Google. No worrying about OEMs adding their awful skins and carriers having to give the okay to push the OTA. With all that being said, I don't even get how you can even post a thread like this. Specs mean absolutely nothing on paper for the most part and benchmarks are not everything. It's all about the experience of having a pure Google device. I am pretty sure ICS was optimized for the hardware on the Nexus so I would think it's safe to say once the GSII gets ICS the Nexus will outperform it. Of course that is speculation since nobody has used a GSII with ICS yet. Bottom line is there is no need to troll people and post threads in a forum section that you clearly have no interest in besides trying to bash it.

This is what excites me. The Thunderbolt had some issues with the first GB rollout and while they weren't huge (no voicemail notifications) it was still a little annoying and it took another month to get the fix. If there is a bug in the software update that Google pushes out, you can be sure it won't take another month to get the fix on the Nexus.

That and being able to work with code...real code, instead of smali will be nice.

Shut my mouth. You're right. I just know I like my phone, but beyond that...
I'll step out now. Carry on.

If I were a betting man, I'd say that you were one of the ones who was so excited about the Galaxy S2 that you bought it immediately when it came out on the carrier you were on. You're now unable to bring the phone back and are upset about the overwhelming response to this Galaxy Nexus device. For a short period of time, you thought you were getting the phone of envy and now you're stuck with a great phone, but not one that everyone is clamoring about.

Such is Android for the most part. Your best bet to fix it? The Nexus. You won't get another one for at least a year.

We all like our phones and justify our purchase decisions. Nothing wrong with that. You just gotta look at the whole picture. The Nexus appeals to a different demographic than the GS II.

I went from an LG Optimus T to an HTC My Touch 4G (glacier) to this T-mobile S2 (Hercules) in 6 months (cash everytime, no contract). I may not even had this for 30 days yet. I could take it back if I wanted to. Like I said, I'll never even realize the full potential of any high-end device. Just what I know from personal experience on this device and what you techies post and what I google.
I'm just a carpenter with an expensive toy that will defend it like a newborn child.

No, I never told you to "shut your mouth" nor did I say OMG you trolled so you must leave right now! It's all good, I'm just pointing out what your posts look like from our perspective that's all. I understand you like your phone and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. The Nexus is going to be our phone and I'm sure we'll like it just as much as you like your device. But you don't see us going to the GSII forums and making threads pointing out things that are superior on the Nexus. I would recommend you stick around and read the Nexus forums if you are truly interested in the device. Who knows, maybe you'll end up liking the Nexus a lot. What I'm trying to say is that I don't want you to think I was being ignorant towards you and I don't want you to leave the forum. Just be civil that's all.

By the way, if you really are new to Android like you said I highly suggest you to try a Nexus device. It is pretty much the holy grail of Android. The Nexus is a device you can truly experience Android how Google meant it to be.

Cool. I didn't know I was in a Nexus forum. I just clicked on an "unread post" w/o realizing. It could have been an S2 forum for all I know. I guess I'll pay better attention next time.

ICS will have plenty of bugs on a dev device just like Honeycomb on a dev device. I could find dozens of Google HC update threads on this forum that are causing crashing, screen dimming, and fc'ing.

Manufacture UI will fix a lot of these bugs but then they end up injecting their own so there is no escaping it.

If you know what you are doing on a dev device be it Nexus, Xoom etc you can work a lot of bugs out your self or at least work around with rooting. Google is too fast to implement new features but waaaay too slow to fix bugs with updates.

Good thing about the GN is easy rooting.

The ATT SkyRocket is the best of both worlds. ATT LTE and HSPA+ (to fall back on) which is faster than Verizon's 3G.

the 1.5 snappy kinda sucks but oh well....plus the SkyRocket will be upgraded with ICS eventually.

Good luck with building penetration on that frequency for LTE ;)

Might be good for campfire entertainment....but then the 5 markets ATT has probably have laws against building campfires in urban areas.

I think If we all just followed this flowchart, we'd be better off
just replace "game" with "device"
