to 1GHZ is still not as fast as the Droid Incredible at 1GHZ and on 2.1

I've got a few guys around the office with 2.2 on it OC'd to 1GHZ and my device still runs things faster and smoother scrolls.

I thought android 2.2 would bring the performance up a bit. =(

I still have my Moto Droid and was looking forward to a much needed speed increase..

an official rom made from 2.2 source with an overclocked processor (1 ghz) will in most cases run faster than an incredible with stock 2.1. i am not sure what rom you are running but almost every rom i have used that is made from source run so smoothly. JIT alone is a key factor in that. it all depends your rom and also how much memory you have. if your memory is low due to having too many apps you might want to install to the sd card or delete a few apps.

they are all on the bugless beast.

I can sit and swipe their screens left and right and notice it's just not as smooth as my Droid Inc.. now maybe they have something else in play..but we did some app tests and just seemed like the Inc was a tad faster..

I've been running BBv04 with a 1.25GHz kernel and everything is fast and fluid. Screen swiping, scrolling, opening apps, browser speed, etc. are all quick and snappy.

Where did you get the kernel for bbv04 from? I'm want to OC my droid but don't really know where to get the kernels from

before i sold my incredible on ebay it was faster and smoother then my droid. after going back to droid running and 1.25 it still seems old and outdated. i thought all androids used same web but with inc it was way faster and smoother.

I'm now overclocked 1.25 GHz and it is running perfectly, super fast. Thanks dwe28

sniffs, try running the Quadrant benchmarks on your Inc. and the Droids running BB v0.4 at 1ghz. I believe the benchmarks will be about 2x the Incredible's score.

Benchmarks are not indicative of real world performance. Being that I have both, my Droid at 1.2ghz, running FRF91 from source scores very high on Quadrant. Easily double my Incredible. Mflops are about 20.

That said, my Droid is slower in performance to my stock Droid Incredible. Real world performance tells a different story.

By the way, my Incredible running Froyo gets 38-42 Mflops at 1ghz, and an even higher score on Quadrant than my overclocked Droid gets (but not by much).

So clock speed is obviously not the only part of the equation here.

It's just the stock launcher that runs like crap. I'm curious as to how many people are basing their opinion SOLELY off of the speed that the phone swipes pages from left to right via the stock launcher? That is a very slanted argument, btw. Said slant disappears when you install LauncherPro.

There is nothing I can really point to on either phone that looked substantially faster than the other. Although my 2.2 Droid does load webpages faster than the Incredible from the test I've witnessed. Besides that, it's sort of a push. I don't think Android's software as completely caught up to the capabilities of this current generation of hardware - except for gaming. That's where the Snapdragon devices are starting to show weakness.

Shoot try adw with the speed turned up in it my phone flies at 800 1.1 is more than enough for me

Also Note They Have A Difference In Memeory

Droid said:
Memory RAM: 256MB, ROM: 512MB
Droid Incredible said:
Memory 512 MB DDR RAM
1 GB ROM (748 MB free to user) plus 8 GB moviNAND

So of course the HTC Incredible will run faster on the same settings

Seriously I can whip up a 1700 plus quadrant score if you need to see it.
Moto Droid with Succulent Desire v 7.

I can't post it here I have to post ten times before adding img.
