So I picked up a G5

Why did you not look into S6 active with a 3500 mah battery it was the hardest phone to kill. Besides the Exonys processors are way better than the snapdragons. I remember everytime I buy something based on reviews from forums like this, it is always a paid promotion. Happened when I swapped my S2 for the skyrocket version, then bought a LG G3, single biggest piece of **** I ever purchased. LG has no quality control, G4 with bootloop issue, the G5 is fugly and the stock android interface looks 20 times better than LG.

I'm actually looking at the S7 active, but I don't really want to go back on AT&T just to get one.

The thing about phones these days, is the perfect phone is all a matter of opinion. I wish the G5 had the battery life of my s7e. I have only had the G5 since last week, but I really, really like it. My personal major selling points for any phone, are the battery, camera, and reception. I have noticed the G5 doesn't have reception as good as my s7e. Which is odd. I love both the displays, the size (even as different as they are!). The battery is seriously lacking on the G5, but I am comparing it to my edge. Still unsure of the camera on the G5. I feel like some of the pics are washed out. As far as battery life is concerned, I didn't notice that if I have the screen brightness set to automatic, it is on like 100% all the time. So I had to manually set it to 50%.

Really struggling to make the decision which device to keep as my daily driver.

So once you choose a phone as a daily driver, when do you use the non driver

The work phone is an iPhone 4S. I'd rather use my S7 edge at this point.
A 4S?

Not to bash on Apple, but I tried using that as a backup phone when my G4 hit the bricks. The tiny screen was unbearable at that point because I was so used to the larger screen size on both the G4 and my old M7 plus the current iPhones. I had to switch to another backup phone, which was a GS3 running Android 6.0.1 on a custom ROM. It was much more bearable almost solely due to the larger display.

I picked up a Gold G5 yesterday evening. My previous device was a G4 and I thought I would give the G5 a go.

I am really enjoying it so far - very quick, great size and loving the camera options.

I have not noticed any build quality issues on my device and the matte gold finish is fantastic.

Early days obviously but all good so far :)

If you end up getting the modules I'd like to hear how you feel about them. That was the main reason I was interested in the device. I didn't play on getting on but really hope the "modular" concept takes off sooner than later we can start seeing more OEM takes on it.

I have the CamPlus Module. One huge surprise was the added battery life to the device. If you are in an area with a solid LTE Signal, in my case I had literally 15 hours of use in one day. Emails, texting, reading blogs, youtube, etc. In my experience I also noticed the CamPlus Module charging the phone when the batter dropped to around 90 percent.

The module itself is pretty handy. There's switch to immediately turn on the camera. Zoom in/out functionality with the dial on the corner of the module. There's a button to snap photoes, as well as a button to switch between video and stills.

I also have the Cam 360 but haven't had time to use it. It's very simple to set up and the battery life is great. I had a 4gb Micro SD Card laying around so I installed it for storage.

I actually had the G5 returned it because it was to expensive for what it is. I got the 10 and it just felt bland. No big standout feature so I returned it. Too expense for not big features, speakers were good not amazing. Saw the G5 is all over swappa brand new for $400 so I thought, wow thats I great price for that so I rebought it and couldnt be happier. I didnt reallize till I got the 10 how much I missed the wide angle camera. The camera on the 10 also always needed some kind of calibration to get good pics. And battery life is about the same g5 vs 10. My 10 also have a defective screen where the bottom was yellowish with whites.

I went through something similar...,had the G5 preorder....heard the announcement for the HTC.....returned G5....bought. a Nexus 6P to try while waiting for the HTC to release. Really like the 6P....I was willing to overlook the the fact that it was to big but it wasn't capable of all Verizon features so I returned it. While waiting for HTC, I saw the G5 for 499 brand new on EBay so it was a homerun plus I still received 360 cam, battery and cradle from my original purchase.

What features are you speaking of? I'm thinking of picking up a 6P since it's on sale.

On Verizon...

No visual voicemail....for that you can get away with a third party app and forward your calls.

I forget whether adavanced calling worked, but no wireless calling support which is nice if you are in an area with bad cell service but have access to wifi.

Certainly not deal breakers for everyone. I could have lived without visual voicemail, but I really like the wifi calling support. Great phone even without the 820 snapdragon but also a bit too large for me although I love the large screen

I had the exact same thought process before finally picking up S7 Edge. I still have my 6P and I'm not sure if I am ready to get rid of it but wireless calling is really nice and it's nice being lazy to use visual voicemail that works without tinkering.

I've been intrigued by G5 and have been thinking about selling 6P and picking one up but I'm not sure how I'd go from 6P's large battery and S7E's huge battery to 2800mah. Especially since 6P and G5 are in the same price range, it's a very good option. Will keep up with what everyone thinks in real life about G5 :)

does the v10 have bootloop issues? I have the v10. purchased in January. I just did a Google search and didn't find anything.

Hmmm..

If you search for Samsung S6 bootloop, you get 433,000 matches. All phones can bootloop if they develop a hardware fault or are damaged. That's very different to a widespread bootloop issue where a certain batch of handsets have a hardware problem which causes it. Are we sure the V10 honestly has a widespread issue like the G4 did (Which was acknowledge by LG)?

My G5 bootlooped the day after it had been in the sea, but after it dried out more, the next day it booted up fine (Before totally dying the next day :-( ). That is definitely not an LG problem, as much as i'd love to claim it was :-)

We'll have to see how it progresses. But the symptons and method of failure is scaringly similar to the G4.

Ok, well lets hope you are wrong, or LG's reputation will be seriously shaken. Would have thought it would have come out by now if it was widespread.

How long did it take for G4s to start getting the issue? Was it very soon after launch, or did it take some time before they started failing?

I hope I am wrong as well, because if this is true, then we have a problem.

It seems to occur after 6-8 months, though some have suffered sooner or later.
