So, is the Z Flip3 as interesting as you expected? ?

ma a Note20U user, AT&T locked, but I almost never use my S Pen.

I have been a bit intrigued by the smaller form factor of the Flip 3 in my pocket. Don't lreally need the Fold 3, as I do all my tablet work on a Galaxy Tab S7+.

Anyone have thoughts about the Flip 3?

I'm sure many will be interested in the new Flip phone from Samsung and what it brings to the table.

It's not a phone for me however for a few reasons.

I'm going to wait and see what Samsung do about the Note series to see if they do release a new model or instead merge the s and note line's together.

I have interest in the fold 3 but not it's price , we see when they are out what's the cost and trade in amounts .

I think it's an interesting concept, but a folding phone is not something I would buy, especially not at that price.

I am much more interested in the next Note, if one is released next year, or the next S released next year.

I have both. The Flip 5G is SUPER convenient. I use it mainly when I go out or just shopping. I love having it but....one single speaker & the cameras do not compare whatsoever with the N20U. The new Flip 3 will have the same cameras & speaker. The screen though will be 80% more durable & now have water resistance. That alone will have me trading in my current Flip for the Flip 3. I will not have to give up my N20U. I got my Flip new at a great price (US$800.) & I'm hoping to get at least that as a trade in value. Possibly more.
If the new Flip 3 is going to be your Only phone & you don't care about cameras, speakers, screen fragility, etc then go for it. Otherwise I'd stick with the N20U.

Nope, way too expensive for what it is.

$999 expensive? I'd rather have the Flip 3 over the $1000 Note 20 I think. Gimmick for gimmick the Folding to half size and the little outside display for general stuff like notifications looks much more usable to me on a daily basis than the S-pen (for me). With the size in half and water resistance it'd make a better pocket phone for running or riding bike than my iPhone XR I'm using right now. I'd rather have that than the Fold 3 right now. Redesign looks so sharp too!

Of course I wouldn't pay full price for one ;)

Our department manages a ton of phones and always have phone eligible for upgrades and can use the coorporate upgrades with our bosses blessing. Just checking our site, prices for the new phones are already up!

I can get a Flip 3 for $500!! Better than the Fold 3 for $1200... still think that's high.

Swappa my XR for $295 and we're talking a couple of hundred plus tax for a new running phone. Hmm...

I'm keeping my Note. I was thinking about upgrading to the fold but the battery isn't a decent size but it's getting a 120hz screen and the cameras are the same cameras from the previous year. they didn't even bother to use the S21s. I did order the watch though since this is the 1st processor upgrade in a while and it will run wear OS. I think I'm more interested in the pixel now qith that Tensor chip and new camera set up.

You calling the Note 20 a gimmick?

You calling the Note 20 a gimmick?

I guess if I had to be honest... yes, I'm calling the Note... the S-Pen more specifically... a gimmick now-a-days. LOL :p

I'll say it over again... I've owned the Note 8 for 3 years... owned the N20U for a year... loved/love each phone. And I actually used the S-Pen a lot when I first got my 8. Honestly for the rare occasion of Note taking. But I did use the the Pen a LOT for interestingly enough translation of texts with Bixby Vision pointing the pen to any text on the screen whether in a doc or in a pic and could be handwritten text and it does a better job than Google Translate even 4 years later... Japanese to English. Chinese. Korean. Spanish. Even Russian. But with the N20U... haven't used the pen once for any note taking except once just to test it. I can use Bixby Vision to translate without the pen anymore.

I will make an uneducated guess and say a small fraction of Note owners, that actually pull out their pen every day or two to use as their regular input device like you would a mouse. I think most owners... I doubt many pull it out even once a week.

Why write when you can dictate... One click to your Samsung Note app just like you pull it up to use with S-pen, go to text mode and press the mic button on your keyboard and dictate your note faster than you can write and probably with less error.

The 1.6" display and the Flip is also a gimmick too. But I bet more people will get more use and benefit out of it than the pen.

But I am basing it on my own use. The only time I pull it out is to show it off. "Hey check out my S-Pen! Hold it! Click the tip a few times. Cool eh?"

The base Note 20... they cheapened the construction with the plastic back cover, the lower spec display, camera, etc over the N20U and sell it for $1000. The Flip 3 looks like it's better designed/contructed, 120hz display, the two 12mp cameras and the folding screen and to be able to fold the phone... I think the specs and tech I stand by my last comment in that it make it a better $1000 phone than the Note 20.

If the Note 22 Ultra does come out I'd probably get it. It will be for if they keep to the design language of the squared look and thinness over the S Series and the possibility that it could be the last year of the Note. But it really won't be because of the pen.

One of the nice things about the S Pen is instead of knowing how to use a Chinese of Japanese keyboard, you can just write the characters easily for recognition - especially for those who are challenged when using those keyboards. The need doesn't happen all the time, but when you need it, it's pretty much impossible getting good results doing that with a finger. Voice recognition doesn't work if you speak a Chinese langauge that isn't Mandarin, which apparently is the only Chinese language that these things typically recognize with dictation.

The most iconic spen/pen phone in cell phone history is no way a gimmick, everything that tries to imitate it , is a gimmick!

No doubt it is still the best iteration of Pen that came out... such a simple but polished pen design... then fidgety clicker on the end probably helped people that really dont use it for writing keep using it for clicking lol. OMG the competitions... the steel tube "antenna" looking pen from the LG version... look like they just used a steel pen refill and add a cap to the end lol.

I would be embarrassed to pull that out to show off if mine looked like that

Yes the Flip looks like a winner. Flipped open it's a big phone... Maybe Xperia sized with it's narrowed width. Getting nit-picky but I hope gen 4 or 5 that outer screen fills out even more when closed.

Yeah, will be interesting to see in person. 1.6" screen just big enough maybe... Be cool if developers and major apps make use of the smaller screen... revive the widgets... flip left to right between widgets and then scroll for info... Yahoo Finance to keep track of DogeCoin ;). Twitter Widget to scroll latest. Email, Weather, etc.

I'm sure developers will .

I love the way it looks like a panda pixel 2xl. I am quite taken by the flip 3 but affordability for me right now rules out frivolous purchases.

Would only get the Flip 3 as a work phone because of its space saving form factor. My personal will remain my Note 20U. I use my S-pen daily for various things; translation, pin to screen, extracting text, screen write, copying text when it can't be done via finger/long-press. If the S-pen isn't integrated, I don't want it as my main driver. Samsung take NOTE.
