so many complaints

BS. Maybe releasing crap software/products is acceptable to the masses where your from, but where I'm from we call that people being suckered in to being beta testers for the phone. Getting the short end of the stick, a raw deal, bent over and probed with no lube, etc etc etc...

You don't see Apple releasing iPhones with tons of problems or build quality issues(minus antenna gate), hell you didn't see RIM releasing phones in their prime with mass user complaints.

Really its going to be how Google/Samsung/Verizon respond to these complaints if there are merits to them, and what they do to make things right.(See antenna gate bumpers).

There isn't any need to put lip stick on the pig, if it sucks, it sucks. Nothing can be done about it, create the obligatory complaint thread and return it. The only way things get fixed is by effecting the bottom line for these companies.

Apple has had its share of problems too.

If you think that Apple products are superior, why are you here?

I have a feeling that a lot of people will buy this phone because of it's hype. I don't do that. I research very carefully before I purchase a phone I'm going to keep for the 2 year contract length. In this case, I didn't pick the Nexus, and I have no regrets. Good luck to those who took the plunge on the Nexus & ICS.

You guys are such hypocrites, it's unbelievable.
Whenever there was a complaint about the Bionic, Razr, Charge, Thunderbolt, etc, it always was "that's why that phone sucks. Wait for the Nexus omgmegazords!"

Now, the Nexus has issues. The response? "lol guys, people are idiots and love complaining. This phone is legendary and the issues will be addressed. These bugs are ok in my book."

Stop this. Go by the same damn standards for once.

Well you should researched a little harder if the best you ended up with an SII Skyrocket based on the old A8 architecture. SII Exynos, sure, but A8 Snapdragon? Therefore, based on your "research" recommendation I will definitely be getting a Galaxy Nexus. Thanks!

The difference for me was I have a thunderbolt. How long did it take for updates to fix bugs. Very long. The phone was actually given a release date multiple times and it was delayed. The nexus was announced two months ago but never delayed. I have a tab so I don't need crazy specs and the fact that Google updates this is sick. Rooted in several hours and Google wallet working. Sux it vzw.

My only complaint with my Galaxy Nexus has to do with the slightly low volume for the ringers and notifications but I remedied that by importing some sound files from the Droid RAZR. I'm now completely satisfied with the phone and definitely will not be looking back.

I'll chime on this one also.

I've been an iPhone user since the day it came out. Nobody comes close to the way Apple Fanboys complain and expect perfection from every device Apple creates. Spend sometime surfing the iPhone forums and you see threads on yellow screens, light shining through headphone jack, home button doesn't have stiffness, mute switch rattles, light leakage, etc... Their QA is getting worse because of cheap labor and mass production.

Just some things to toss out there. I'm not saying the Nexus is flawless, but it does what I need it to do. I'm happy!

Exactly right. Everybody seems to gloss over the fact that each release tends to have a lot of minor bugs, but there are tons of Apple consumers that complain about these things, but then still rate Apple the best in Customer Sastisfaction Surveys because of their faithful allegiance.

Perhaps if folks wanted a flawless phone OS out of the box, they shouldn't have purchased a developer phone? I'm not sure that many people realize that's what this is. The Nexus S had plenty of issues at release.

People love to complain. If I screw up at work I have several people telling me I screwed up. If I do something good then I might have one person telling me I did a good job.

you might have to take that up with the bobs...

Haha you're like the rest of "them". Trying to justify something based on you're preferences. Why can't everyone like different phones? And "old architecture"? It's not an old processor. It's one of Qualcomm's newer chips and it's 1.5Ghz dual-core! It's an upgrade from the 1.2Ghz in the original S2. And it's more of an upgrade to the Nexus's 1.2Ghz. I'm not in to arguing with immature folks on here, sorry.

Really? Blackberry Storm and Strom 2, you call those phones perfect and without flaws? It was the first time RIM went not only with a full touch screen device but they convoluted it by making the whole screen a button. They had a their chance to fix the Storm problems when they made the Storm 2 and they still put out a crap phone.

Apple iPhone 4S with the SIM card failures, battery drains and SiRi being hit or miss (which by the way according to apple is still in beta yet they use Siri as a selling point).

I could name a number of other phones as well.

When it comes down to it....ALL new phones are beta..let me rephrase that ALL new products are in some form a beta release. The manufacturer can only do so much "real world" testing on a new product before releasing it.

At least with the issues that are being reported by people on the Nexus, it seems that they can all be solver with a software update.

Yea Im sorry but I do see alot of threads popping up about complaints but I have none with mine. The only thing that was a bit weird was when I received update my phone went into safe mode and I couldnt view apps. I restarted phone and everything has been great. If people are complaining about the interface of ICS, we all knew it was going to take some time to get used to, so complaining over that is BS. Besides that I love my GN so far. :)

Performance of one chipset to another can't be compared in Ghz alone. Based on most benchmarks I've seen, Snapdragons have less performance per clock than OMAP or Exynos. In fact, one CPU benchmark I saw a while back showed that the 1.5Ghz Snapdragon dual core barely beat the 1Ghz OMAP4430. I haven't seen a comprehensive review with benchmarks of all the current devices back to back yet, so things could vary a bit, but the point is don't assume that 1.5Ghz is necessarily better than 1.2Ghz.

Also, I don't know why people without the GN seem to think it's a terrible phone now that a few very very minor issues have been found. It's been working great for me. After extensive messing with it yesterday I found one tiny, obscure bug. Otherwise it's been living up to the hype for me.

For the record, I have had absolutely no problems with my Nexus. I am still figuring out the intricacies of the new OS, but everything I am finding is an improvement.

My progression: OD Droid, DINC, Thunderbolt, Rezound, Nexus.

All very good phones, but this is the best by far.

Nobody's being immature. He made a valid point and it's obvious your "research" did not include understanding any technical terms such as architecture (A9 vs you phones A8 for ex). An underclocked 4460 at 1.2gz will outperform a 1.5gz snapdraggon any day of the week. That said, enjoy your phone. I'll be happy with my GNEX it is direct updates for a long time.

Not a Blackberry user I guess?

RIM has released so many bad OSes for their phones, it's ridiculous. 9530, 9630 (bad trackballs), 9650, etc etc are just the ones I've used in recent years that took many months of releases to finally get a decent OS on.

I moved our company's users over to Android devices first and now have moved most over to iPhone 4s since it's finally global on VZW.

The reason iPhones are so rock steady is that they are basically the exact same OS as the first version, just slightly tweaked over the years. Google could learn a thing or two on that, RIM is on the way out like Palm went.

the reason is most people do not post something if they are having no issues with it, which is why it seems like so many people hate the phone. I am having no issues at all with mine. People do the same thing for every phone, this is nothing new.

I LOL'ed at how wrong this statement is. I owned a BlackBerry & participated in dozens of threads for newly released phones over at Crackberry. The threads grew into hundreds of pages -- all full of complaints of poor build & software problems.

LOL. Oh man, so so so wrong.

Because haters gonna hate. I mean they are mad they do not have the nexus. it is funny people without the phone say it has so many bugs. Funny my nexus has no issues at all. Plus updates will come right from google and will fix any issues months before other companies release updates. 2+ months for moto and verizon to fix the huge bugs on the bionic..

Lol, good point. I guess I'd be mad if I couldn't get the Nexus for whatever reason too :P
