So this wireless charging "thing"...

It will great to be able to passively charge your phone or other device without even thinking about it.

Let's take it a step further. How about we simply stream the power from the electromagnetic radiation that's already everywhere, thus totally bypassing the need to even have batteries!

I personally do not care much about wireless charging. Yeah, it's cool and all that; but if my phone doesn't have it, oh well! I'd much rather have features like water resistance.

Had wireless charging with my S7 Edge and don't have it with my Pixel 2XL. Thought I'd miss it, but I don't. It's a convenience but hardly a necessity.

As for "true" wireless charging, I don't know about all that extra EM radiation directed to something in my pocket. I'd better adjust my tin foil hat! ;)

Lol

I have had several mornings where my Samsung was not charged due to not having it set perfectly on the pad. So for me I prefer the quick charge. USB-C is so easy since it's universal and doesn't matter how it's plugged in.

I have a mophie case and Mophie night stand
and I eventually plan to buy a Mophie car vent holder ( look for them on their website) the case have an integrated battery and is wireless chargeable. and the stand. is magnetic and give you the possibility to hold your phone vertically while charging. pricey but it's the best charger I bought. there even is magnetic wireless charging batterypack if you want to charge your pbhone on the go. without having to bring a thing plugged that will break your phone If it get stuck. before wireless charging. I use to break the USB port on the phone after a year and a half. because I often use the phone when plugged and that cause strain on the USB port. with this case this is not an issue anymore

I think the fumbling with wires and the USB port is very comical now, with USB C...makes it far easier...

...I've had one phone with wireless charging, and bought a charger but never really used it... definitely not a deal breaker for me, I look at it as one less accessory to buy lol.

Good point. Wireless charging = more accessories to buy/remember. I forget stuff too much as it is! Haha.

Why is it funny? I'm using a GS7 and still have the micro usb connector. There are plenty of people on phones older than mine. I don't change phones every time a new one comes out. Until Samsung quits utilizing wireless charging, I'll stay with them. Wireless charging is an important feature to me, just like you have a feature that is important to you.

The trick to avoiding this is to get the right wireless charging pad. I usually buy the dual coil ones where its nearly impossible to put it on the pad and not hit a charging coil properly.

Also, the ones where you place the phone upright also helps to align it.

The small round circular ones that Samsung sells is horrible for proper placement. I do have one of those and my wife always missed the charging coil and thought wireless charging was garbage. Then when I bought the dual coil ones she loved the feature.

I frequently have my phone fall in a brook I hike at and the main reason I bought the S7 was water resistant.

However, it does get the USB port wet and not allow charging after a dunk and my phone is usually dead after a trip in the woods.

The Qi charging doesn't have the issue when the USB has a drop still not dried.

Funny for USB C devices as I mentioned.

Though I understand the benefit that you're presenting, honestly, if I was dropping my phone in a brook frequently I would take measures to make sure that that didn't happen. There are usually rocks in a Brook and I wouldn't want to break my phone by dropping it or take unnecessary risks on water damage.

I've only ever killed past phones with water damage and not impacts. I don't use more than a flip cover and have always been fine. I've taken steps to prevent water damage, but pretty much the water resistance of the S7 has paid for it's self a dozen times. Since OG Droid phone I've never had a screen crack or impact damage.

I'm just saying why risk it
