So when the Note 8 specs are a flop who's going to regret not getting S8 around launch?

Your response is well thought out and articulate.

Seems the same to me. In one situation, a person posts assuming that people care and in the other situation a person expresses that they care. So it seems the assumption is correct: some people care about what other people do.

I've seen this pic of the Note 8 & I feel like someone just put an S-pen next to a S8+ & said "hey, here's a leaked pic of the Note 8". I'm not saying that I'm right, but everytime I see this pic I can't help but think that.

thats exactly what it looks like to me

I have a pre-order for the S8+ and will preorder the Note 8. I normally just get Notes and upgrade once a year, unfortunately I had to go from the Note 7 to the S7 Edge (wish I hadn't traded in my Note 5). I ordered the S8+ because I really don't like the S7 Edge and want out of it as soon as possible, this is simply a personal preference. Once I get the Note 8 then I will get back on the Note cycle and only upgrade once a year.

Note 8 should be great, but if indifferent to the display ratio or pen, seems no point in waiting and the 8+ is a good choice. There will always usually be a better device months away.

Almost looks like they took an S8+, and put a left over stylus from the Note 7 next to it...

IMO that's all it is. perhaps with a little photoshop to make it look wider. People know what they're doing...trying to spark conversation and its working.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the dimensions stayed exactly the same as the S8+ and Samsung just figured out how to place the fingerprint sensor under the screen in time for the Note 8. (and cram a stylus in there)

Other than that, they'd make it 128GB on-board storage, 6GB RAM, and bundle in a DeX dock just to give it more "business appeal".

No way will the note 8 be tall and skinny like the s8+.... also the FPS will 100% not be next to the camera lens....

It's going to have to be wider to accommodate the S-Pen silo, I think they learned their lesson in cramming things in there with the Note 7.

You're in the same boat as me. I would only purchase phones from the note line but then the note7 debacle happened so I bit on the s8+, until the note8 comes out.

Why would you think the note8 won't be tall and skinny? You do know that the note7 started this tall display trend for Samsung. It wasn't enough to change the aspect ratio but it definitely was taller and narrower then the s7 series.

The note8 will definitely be the same exact design and aspect ratio as the s8 series.

Well, the Note 7 mainly started the whole trend of being narrower.

I believe that it is not possible for the Note 8 specs to be a flop in anyway, unless it is foldable.

Exactly. The "narrow" phones are hear to stay due to the onscreen navigation buttons. People want the best of both worlds - no home button and no weird display ratio. I'm hoping there's a way to just extend out the display of the Note8 by only increasing the width.

Like the multitude of devices with large 16:9 devices with onscreen buttons? Because there are tons of them :)

I've already ordered my S8 Plus. I am NOT holding out for the Note 8. Ridiculous how every time a new phone is released a lot of people are waiting for the next better thing.

So like the title says... Whatcha gonna do then?

Why the regret? You have your money and can buy any phone you like.

I don't see how anyone would "regret" waiting to find out what the specs are for the Note 8. After we find out more details and see leaks of a production unit, then people could decide to wait for release or buy something else. It's not like the S8+ won't be available anymore.

If anything, not buying a S8 or S8+ at launch in the US would provide those who waited with more options. There's no doubt that more colors of the S8 and S8+ are coming. I could see Samsung bringing 2 more color variants to the US in late summer to keep the S8 fresh going into the fall.

If you find the Note 8 isn't for you, you just might have a better selection of colors and perhaps some other bonuses if you wait.

On the flipside, those who purchased their S8 or S8+ on launch, might see a color they prefer 2 or 3 months later and have some regret.

Why anyone would have regrets over a color makes no sense to me. The color does not change the phone plus there are cases in any color you like.

They also don't have tiny top and bottom bezels. Look at the Pixel. Big top and bottom bezels. The LG has small bezels, but has a 18:9 display ratio.

Regret sets in around the time a new phone specs are leaked and people feel they should have purchased the "other" item. In this case the S8. Sure the S8 will still be available. Would you want to purchase a 6 month old device though when there are likely newer "better" things on the horizon?

That's why it was so difficult to go to the V20(one of my least favorite phones in quite a few years) from the Pixel XL. I only did it because I got the V20 for 360$. It's only a 200$ phone to me. The Pixel was good in almost every aspect for me.
