I got the message for the first time yesterday. Noticed a few peculiarities just before it did...
I had Wifi on for at least 24 hours...
Most of the time when I had Wifi on, towards the end just before I experienced the error message, the signal bars for CDMA/EVDO service was completely missing, but not indicating no signal (with an "X").
Error occured shortly after I disabled Wifi to make sure a picture message attachment would go through since it was NOT switching from Wifi Mode to 3G mode with arrows for an indicator.
Occasionally, when switching back to wifi, the Wifi icon also shows no signal... just a dot... despite being less than 10 feet away from the router.
Based on what people have said and what I've seen... this error seems to fundamentally be caused by poor signal conditions that the device can't recover from (Interference or just an outage) or cannot tell if it has recovered from...
I'm wondering if something automated, like using Tasker to automatically toggle Airplane Mode every hour, would help to work around the issue.
After getting the error, toggling airplane mode gave me back normal signal indications along the lines of what I expect from past experiences in my apartment.
