[SOLVED] Firmware Update won't download on RAZR HD, RAZR Maxx HD and RAZR M (I'm on 4.0.4)

Hi,
I have a driod rzr maxx (4.0.4)
I tried following the steps a few times, but it is not working. When I click on the pc "check for device update" nothing seems to be happening. When I click on the phone for system updates, I get a prompt "Motorola account required" I click yes to set up, then get screen "Communicating with server, Please wait" it just hangs like that. Called motorola about this and they said they are aware of the issue, but can't push a fix to the phone and don't know when there will be a fix. They did not sound too confident in what they were talking about though. Verizon is also clueless. Trying to update without doing a reset.
Any thoughts on this?

Solved "Can't connect Razr to computer".

Endless hours were spent trying to connect my Motorola Razr to my computer. This finally worked:
Go to Play store on the phone.
Download Motorola PIM (all upper case).
If you have an extended battery case/charger on the phone, remove the phone and insert the USB cable into the port on the top of the phone.
The computer should now recognise the phone.

Or
Download "Airdroid" and do all the transfers wirelessly.
