[Solved] Help - Can't move apps to any of my screens

Not sure what happened. I was trying to add an app from my list of apps to my home screen and it no longer lets me do it. I swipe up twice to see all of my phone apps, I hold my finger on the app I want to add to home screen and it no longer lets loose for me to slide it to the screen. It just says "app info" etc.

Maybe I'm having a bad brain fart but I swear that's how to add apps. I've done it so many time before it just felt like second nature and when I just tried I thought I was going crazy when I couldn't get it to move (app).

Any help is appreciated.

Long press an empty spot on your home screen - home screen settings and make sure that 'Home screen lock' is switched off.

All settings are fine, no lock on. I've rebooted twice and still can't move any app to any screen. I fear it happened when I got the TMO January security update since I don't move apps around much, today was first day I needed to and noticed it's broken.

When you long press it and get the app info, are you keeping your finger still? If so, try to slide it around after the pop-up appears (without letting your finger off) and see what happens. That's how it is with my current phone with Nova.

Tried every trick. I used to just hold app, it would pop up a bit and I'd slide it to whatever screen I wanted. Now the app just pops up the little app info box and I can't move anything at all.

For fun I did a live chat with LG and explained the issue. Their solution....send in phone so we can review and fix software. Yeah, like I'm going to do that.

You could try installing a custom launcher and setting it as default. At this point you can safely force stop and clear cache for the stock launcher. Restart the phone, switch back to the stock launcher and see what happens.

Where in the settings do I find the current stock launcher "app" to clear the cache?

Wow, I can't even move apps that are within a folder like the 'Essentials" folder you find when you swipe up to 'all apps" pages. I hold an app withing the folder and it won't move at all. BUT, I can move icons around that are on my home page and the 2nd page I have. No issues at all.

Can someone who has a stock G8 with newest security try to go to the all apps screen and see if they can drag an icon to their home screen?

Found 3 "home" related system apps and cleared all caches. Still cannot move any icons from app list to home screens.

I know you tried it, but it seems like Home Screen Lock is stuck on. What type of Home screen do you use (Home, Home and App Drawer, or Easy Home)? I use home with stock LG launcher...no issues here. if you're using a different home screen, I can switch mine and see if that effects anything.

I would also try a 3rd party launcher like Nova and see from app drawer if can add apps to home screen.

Also have a T-mobile G8 with latest security. Not experiencing this issue.
