Hey guys I just switched from iPhone to htc one. It's a pretty cooling phone but the battery is horrible for me. I closed all apps and left it on with WiFi before bed. 6 hours of idle consumed 15%. I left my iPhone for 2 weeks idle with WiFi it lost only 30% ish. Could it be the background apps? I tried using task killer. But those apps 're appear instantly.
Second thing. I tried using default browser with flash on and I couldn't watch online streaming. Site is atdhe.eu

Thirdly. At my college. They use this xpressconnect thing for WiFi. Somehow it just never automatically connect unlike my iPhone.

Cool phone but quite some issues for now

As far as battery life goes, I've found that in the first month of use the battery has actually improved. Give it a little time and see if that doesn't happen for you.

IOS historically has done a good job managing the power when the phone is not in use. Android on the other hand has come a long way in power management but still lets a lot of background processes run when you're not using it. Many apps now use location services and it's usually defaulted to be on when you install so you have to make a habit of checking location settings and refresh/sync settings as soon as you download them. Here are a couple things you can do and check to help battery:

1. Check your accounts sync settings. Only sync important things and set frequency as such.

2. Check location settings in maps. Maps is always checking and keeping the phone awake so turn of location reporting.

3. Check apps that use the internet for their location and sync settings. For instance espn scorecenter runs background processes and many don't know it. Give longer refresh times and turn off for those you don't need. For instance facebook defaults to 1 hour refresh and location services on. I turn both off.

4. Download wakelock detector. Your phone is meant to go into a deepsleep mode when screen goes off which uses little power. But there are things called wakelocks that awake your device or prevent deepsleep because they run processes. This app will help you pinpoint those apps and processes that are preventing you phone from going into deep sleep. Then you can check those apps and adjust accordingly.

I am rooted (equivalent to iPhone jailbreaking) and I use greenify which puts selected apps into deep sleep mode when you aren't using them. So this stops their processes and I can still use them as normal. I get excellent battery life with this app.

Good luck.

Second question...flash is no longer supported by android browsers since jelly bean. You'll need to use a browser with built in flash like photon or lightning to view flash sites.

Thirdly, don't know enough about your schools network to help.

Good luck.

If you know what you're doing you can get great battery life immediately ;)

Another thing, I get excellent battery life with location services on and WiFi radio always on. So you don't have to toggle stuff on and off. I don't keep GPS on because I rarely use it. But you can keep it on because the radio stays off until you use an app that needs it.
