Someone please help? I want out of JB and back into ICS 4.0.4

And on top of that, if it were meant to be the ota, why not release it now.

So by installing this release you are voiding you're warranty then? Warranty only covers official software and their updates, if this isn't official then your outta luck.

All they did was recall an official update, that is all. Just like a soak test. It is official but not released too everyone.

If you side load you technically are. If you got one of the ota ones then no.

Again, if it was the ota, why is it just sitting there

Once again, where the hell has it been said it was official, just because you think so doesn't mean it is.

This is nothing like soak test, with a soak test they release the actual official ota to people who were accepted into the program, if it's good to go they release that exact ota.

This is an update that was leaked to the public by accident, before a soak test even happened, before it even had a chance to become official.

And no your warranty won't be void, because verizon knows it was released to some people. There's no way they can tell you flashed it manually.

MrHost, I am going to kindly ask you to not post anything further on this because I can sense you are going to upset some other forum members by trying to stand on no legs regarding the legitimacy of the JB upgrade that was pushed for VZW by mistake. I agree with others that it was not official because it's almost a month later, and there is still no OTA upgrade available. It was not Official and to say it was so only serves to make you look less credible.

To any who read this post, and think I am being too harsh, I am sorry. I moderate for several forums. I am merely trying to nip a potential problem in the butt.

Right. A site that no one has ever heard of who doesn't list any sources except from taking the instructions from a user from xda and not even taking the time to link to the post.

Who also doesn't say anything about them stopping it as soon as they realized it.

For the last time. If it was official, they would have just said the hell with it were just gonna leave it out there, but obviously it's not official hence why they stopped it.

I'm done with this thread now because I'm tired of repeating my self.

Carry on everyone else.

You're supposed to leave smart Actions un modified. For whatever reason I'm not sure

Which is why I kindly asked him to not say anything further to prevent what did happen, from happening. :-/

Now I have to figure out how to work with my freshly rooted phone to use WiFi tether app FoxFi if possible, if not, someone please recommend away! I am all ears.

I'll still help. So you got it rooted right? The best bet is to use the sql hack to modify a line of code that prevents verizon from checking your subscription status, you would then just use the built in hot spot.

To do this download an app called SQLite editor, here's the link
https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor&token=t7t7lZV2

Open it

Make sure you hit grant on the Window that pops up and asks for supper user permission(that's where the needing root part comes in)

Scroll all the way down to where you see settings storage, there is two of them so make sure you hit the one with the hammer and gear icon

Hit settings.db then hit settings

Go down to line 79 where it says entitlement check

Change it from 1 to 0 (long press under the value field, then hit edit field on the popup)

Click save

Exit the app, and then reboot the phone.

After that you should be able to use Verizon's hot spot without it checking for your subscription.

Okay. What subscription status do you speak of? I have Grandfathered Unlimited Data if that's what you mean and I also have "Wifi Tether for root users"...

What I mean is you can use the Verizon hot spot app and it won't ping back to Verizon to see if you are actually subscribed to the hot spot plan, this eliminates the need to use any 3rd party app, ever
