So I've been streaming music from my Google Play Music library and I've noticed that some songs play at significantly lower volumes than others. This happens quite often. I'm coming from an HTC M7 and never noticed this before (well maybe one song rarely would be lower) . Has anyone else noticed this? I hate having to change the volume constantly when listening on my headphones.

Are the songs all from the same source (e.g. Google Play)? I suspect this may be due to the recording quality of the songs you are listening to. You can try going into system settings > applications > sort by all > music app (whichever app you are using) > clear cache. If that doesn't help then it's due to the recording quality of the songs.

Some songs will be louder than others depending on the quality of the recordings. A lot of older recordings won't be as loud as newer ones. It's like this with any device I think some may have equalizers that help with this a bit.

Make sure the phone isn't automatically turning the volume down when you open the app...mine is...

..Anyone know how to freakin' stop this? I open Play Music up, and the phone tells me it is turning the volume down to protect my hearing.
I'm just trying to play it through my car's speakers, though. I have to continually turn my volume back up every single time. My Nexus 5, of course, never did this. My volume stayed where I put it last.

I have to do this too. My s3 did the same. The only time the volume stays the same is with the Bluetooth in the car.

yeah I almost exclusively stream my music from Google Play (my own uploaded songs) however just last night I purchased an album from Google Play and I'm still experiencing the same issue with songs from the same brand new album. it's not the worst thing in the world, but it still is a bit annoying.

Got it. It's a little unusual to have that occur with a newly downloaded album. Try clearing cache for the audio player app (or Music) you are using. Do this in system settings > applications > sort by all > name of app > clear cache.

Let us know if that provides some relief with the problem.
