SORELY disappointed with S22

Not yet. I will though. Bur I bet they won't do anything unless they can reproduce the issue for themselves in the store.

My first S22 Ultra was defective out of the box, it happens. Most prominent was it would go into a state where if I tried to make a phone call it would just shut down the attempted call after a few seconds and I wouldn't be able to make a call unless I rebooted the phone. There were other issues as well.

If you're in the first 30 days you can have them replace the phone under customer satisfaction. I simply called in and didn't have prove the malfunctioning. They shipped out a replacement and I had 30 days to send the defective phone back.

That's one thing I haven't heen able to figure out on tgis phone, how to get to change screen resolution. Other phones like my S9, s10, S20 were straight cut, but I can't seem to find the screen res settings on this one
Settings>display>screen resolution

Hmm I looked but it appears you don't have the option to adjust screen resolution on the base S22 models. I don't see the option to do it in my menu.

It's the video that let me down the most. I took some still shots before the ceremony around campus and the football stadium, and in the basketball auditorium where the commencement was and it produced some fantastic still shots.

That video and battery though, arrrrgghhhh.

That's so sad. I'm glad you at least got some still shots.

Just checked with Facebook uninstalled camera not in use, nothing else using battery--just basically light usage and it's still estimating im only going to get maybe 9 hrs battery. That is pitiful.

This unit is going back TODAY!!!! I have not seen such PATHETIC battery out of a phone since the S6. Beyond abysmal.

It actually did let me flat out uninstall Facebook altogether, so I will try reinstalling it and see if that helps.

May consider switching to Samsung Internet as many people are saying Chrome is becoming resource hungry and Samsung Internet is a good alternative.

I've never been able to make a switch from Chrome, because I just like the seamless sync to my desktop PC. I know there are ways to set that up with other browsers, but it isn't exactly seamless in my experience.

Hmm i uninatalled FB and my idle time battery is much better it seems. I bet FB was doing stuff in the background before I uninstalled it. It seems to take a lot longer to lose a percentage in idle /standby than it did before uninstalling FB.

I have the app installed because trying to share things to FB without it is wonky. However, I have the battery setting set to restricted, the data setting to not run in the background, etc., and I never see it on my battery list (I'm sure it's down farther than I look, but that's good.).

I primarily use the browser to check in on FB, but if you want to use the app and you're OK not getting notifications, you could set the restrictions I do and still use the app with much less battery drain.

I still think, even for FB, your app was draining too fast and you might have had a glitch from your data transfer when you swiitched phones.

I would think that means the resolution is probably not the issue since you tested it without changing from what you used at the commencement. Unless the difference in ambient temp changes that.

It's probably just a defective unit which does happen sometimes. You'll see on this forum that there haven't been too many issues reported. I've got an S22+ and regularly get 6-7 hours SOT, and my battery never heats up and lasts well over a day. I'm sure if you returned the phone and got another one, you'd have different results. Otherwise, they'd take the phone off the market.

Just watched 22 minutes worth of YouTube video. Battery temp stayed between 80-86 degrees the whole time. It did drop 5% in percentage. Is that an acceptable battery-to-video ratio?

I'm trying to NOT give up on this phone, as I DO like it when it is working well.

Seems right even 90 degree be ok

Just a thought on this. Was the graduation ceremony in a outside stadium?

The reason I ask is if that phone is exposed to the sunlight and being used, it will heat the phone up fast. I've noticed that with all my phones, direct sunlight will heat them up fast. If it was a inside stadium then never mind, just throwing a idea out there since you haven't been able to reproduce it.

I think I may be seeing some improvement in battery life. I currently still have 28% from last night's charge.

No. It was inside Coleman Coliseum, which they had the room temp set to 70 degrees.
