speakerphone mic

My S5 Active works great except when I use the speakerphone (hands free) apparently it's very difficult to hear on the other end....is this a common problem or is there a setting I don't know about? I've turned off the noise cancelling, thinking that was the problem but it didn't seem to help...

Welcome to Android Central! The speakerphone mic is different from the phone mic, so it's possible the speakerphone mic could be blocked or clogged up. Do videos that you record also have muffled sound?

I have the same problem, and Yes I can record video just fine. Verizon is replacing the phone, but do you have any ideas why it happens?
