Thanks, I'm doing that right now (with the contacts I do remember) as we speak.
Can wait to get off work today to play with the other 2.1 Leak additions![]()
apps2sd is automatic if you partition your sdcard. You don't have to install anything to make it work.
Apps2sd didnt work for me using option 3. It wasnt until I flashed apps2sd 2.5that it finally took. went from 41 megs to 110 megs available after that. Huge changes with speed after that as well. Also my task killer cant keep the apps killed anymore...they reload themselves even if I dont open them.
I think the apps2sd in option 3 installs itself just fine but it doesnt actually push the apps to the SD card automatically. However apps2sd 2.5 does.
How many of you installed option 3 and didnt see a major change in your internal memory available?

Did you go to people select the contact then change the default for that person to the ringtone you want.I just installed this version and i noticed that I cant add custom ringtones to my contacts, i
added my ringtone but some reason it wont save it.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Also, to make things quicker. Just enter all your contacts into your Google account using your computer. It's much faster then entering them all in on your phone. Since you have an Android phone, Google really is your best friend. Contacts, calenders, gmail, it all works flawlessly with Android.
Just the other day, I did something I had never done before. I set up an event on the calender on my phone, and added a few emails of people that were invited to the event. They all automatically received invites to the event, and my phone would update with Yes, No, and Maybe for everyone who was attending. Anyone who else who uses Google calenders would have it automatically added to their calender just by clicking that they were attending. Pretty sweet.
Ok guys, I don't usually post stuff on forums like this, but I'm in a bit of a panic and think I need help. Beezy, reading how you helped others is why I posted here. You are very patient and helpful. So thank you.....
I bought the HTC Hero from Bestbuy roughly Nov. 2009. And like everyone else love it, but was frustrated with all the bugs and slowness, lag ext. Reading and waiting for 2.1, getting impatient weekly...blah blah blah....but horrified to try to root the phone, because im not the techiest guy in the world, so when I saw that there was a 2.1 leak that I could just click from my computer, I did "option 1" and have had a major problem ever since. The phone will shut off if its not plugged in. I have to constantly turn it back on and wait for it to reboot.
So I followed "How-To repair your bootloader after using the 2.1 RUU" to the T! With no error messages and got it back to "stock" which still looked like 2.1 to me. I formated the SD card from the phone, did a full wipe in that black/green boot page and flashed Beezy's "option 4". I believe I did a nanbackup right before the "option 4". But I don't think it matters, since the phone was shutting down before that anyway.
So that's where I am. If I'm messing around with the phone (on a call, web, playing with apps) it will stay on, but as soon as I set it down and the screen goes to sleep, thats it, when I pick it up and hit the menu or power button, it reboots (white screen, HTC logo). Am I F'ed? I do have insurance through sprint, but believe that is void now, since I stated messing around with it.
Looks like a full boot...

I should mention that I have been testing things like, Turning off "Screen Timeout" completely, 10 mins, 1 min, 30 seconds...ext. And it still shuts down after a few minutes when the screen is off......HOWEVER, it is random as far as how long it has been sitting.....Sometimes the screen will be black for a minute and when I hit the menu or power it will reboot....sometimes it will sit for 10 mins and will turn on.....very random, but it WILL reboot eventually.
Thanks for replying, Beezy.....I'm pretty much freaking out right now, as this is a work phone and need it constantly =(
Ok, thanks.
I believe that it has something to do with, battery? Screen saver?
Because, so long as I have the phone plugged into the the wall or computer its fine. But as soon as I uplug it....it will eventually reboot.
I hate to ask, but can you post a step by step in detail as to wipe and such. I have spent days doing this and I'm scared that I'm doing it wrong (even though I get no error messages).
If you don't have the time to post something like that, don't worry.
Thanks again
ok, I never did Wipe Dalvik or SD:ext partition. I only wipe'ed Data/Factory reset.
When I tried to do Dalvik and SD:ext partition, I got error messages
Error: run 'wipe dalvik' via adb!!
and
Error: run 'wipe ext' via adb!
I bet that is what the problem is.....dont know what to do from here.
Doesn't look good....
It rebooted (took about 10 mins) but finally loaded up. Was on for like 10 mins, then rebooted same as before.
Trying wipe all again, then re-flashing option 4.
A thought.....should I try option 3 rom? Would that make a difference? I can't imagine it would, but I'm at a complete loss at this point.
