Here is the conversation I just had with Sprint Online Chat about getting my phone's MSL number ... I requested the MSL and "Megan" straight up told me she couldn't and gave me some shtick about company policy ... Then sends me to tech support ... Then seconds later asked why I needed it ... I just quickly made up a conversation that I had with tech support a while ago and immediately she gives me the number ... This becomes a bit tiresome that you have to go through these obstacles but the moral of this story is nothing is EVER set in stone with Sprint ... Always be courteous, Know your plan of action, and If one person cannot help move on to the next person ... You can ask two different people the EXACT same thing and get to totally different outcomes. That's The Sprint Way ... ;)

Just tell them you have data connection error 128 they'll include the msl in the instructions I actually had the error though getting my msl was a secondary benefit

You can change how your phone connects to the network volume limits and a few other things if you don't know what it is you probably don't need it. There's a few guides on xda if you look on what you can do with it follow them carefully though.

use the cdma workshop, follow steps at xda and it works like a charm. I dont have time to post a link right now because I am heading out to work, its in developer section in the evo 3d forums. I got mine, I was having connection issues because I activated the phone on the web to replace my nexus. It would not hold on to 4g connection and 3g speeds were pretty horrible. After I did a hard reset the phone went through activation again and I have consistend 1-2mb 3g speeds and 4g connection never dropped once for 2 hours I tested it last night and 30 mins this morning. Although I have it disabled now, 3g is decently fast to do everyday task, plus 4g toggle switch is sweet.

tell'em you're a dev.. make up some tech sounding response and they'll give it to you lol

If you're rooted MSL reader works perfectly, at least it did for me on the EVO 4G. (I mention that here since it seems that user-friendly 3D root is almost upon us.)

I said I was helping a friend test an app for the android market, that I had the apk all downloaded and all I needed was my MSL. They guy gave it up right away.

CDMA workshop or just call and say you have data issues. Seriously, I've heard 1 person who had to call more than twice. Chat...yeah, I've heard that people have had problems with it.

When I asked for it I got the run around. When I told them to give it to me, they gave it to me.
Be firm with your demand and you will get it.

I called tech support and the gal that answered gave it to me right away without question. I said I need to get my MSL number and she said ok, and then gave it to me. It was almost too easy.

Yeah ... It totally depends on how you contact them and who you get, but ultimately you end up getting what you need ... I also downloaded the Qualcomm Product Support Tools ... Great software tool.

Y'all had better luck than I did. I'm sure if I try enough, I'll find someone that will give it to me. It took 3 tries with my Pre.
