Sprint Hero 2.1 released(facts and finding/complaints)thread

Not sure if there is a fix for this.....but whenever I make a call the phone vibrates and I have not found a way to turn it off. All keyboard vibrate settings and haptic feedback are turned off, unless there is a hidden one I have not found yet. The phone keypad also vibrates when entering phone numbers as well.

I have Better Keyboard installed and have checked the settings in there as well as in text input. I have also checked the call settings to turn off the vibrate when making a call and can't find the setting that controls it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The vibrate when a call is made is an annoying feature HTC added that cannot be turned off. We've had it since the first leak release, haven't heard if its been taken off somehow (doubt it).

Damn are you sure? I cant just re-install another ROM?

Try booting in recovery (vol down + power with the phone off). You'll notice there is no more recovery image. One cannot be added now because the phone cannot get root access. The exploit for 1.5 won't work with 2.1. So yeah, you're SOL. :/ Sorry.

If you installed the official release by Sprint, you can't get them. The live wallpapers is a patch that needs to be flashed (something you can't do because you aren't rooted and therefore cannot add the recovery image). If you want to give it a shot anyway, you have to install two apps livewallpapers.apk and livewallpaperselector.apk into system/app (or data) folder, which I also believe you need root access to add files to.

Where do I find the livewallpapers.apk and livewallpaperselector.apk?
Pleas help I want to give this a try.

Note: Must have 2.1 ROM in order to flash. Must also have Recovery image. Put this on your SD card, Boot into recovery, flash (no wipe, this is an add-on, not a ROM), reboot. To select live wallpapers, add them as you would a regular wallpaper, through the menu from the home screen.

Sould have mentioned that Im not rooted and am running the Official Sprint 2.1 Update so does that take care of the 2.1 ROM? And where do I get Revovery Image? Sorry if this sounds retarted, but Im new to all of this lol.

You told the other guy with the sprint 2.1 non rooted update to add the 2 apps in the data folder of the sd. Is this way easier than what you told him? Or is this for those that are rooted? If these steps are for rooted can you give mee a link to download the live wallpapers(and selector).apk so I can try and put them in the sd card data folder, see if it works for me. If I can use these steps please walk me through.

He means a custom 2.1 rom,not the official 2.1 ruu.Recovery image is a like a menu you boot into to flash zips from the sdcard.You would get all these in the root process.Since you have the Sprint 2.1 you can't do the root process,so you cannot flash or boot into recovery.Sorry,

just installed the two livewallpaper.apk that you mention and i also installed the gallery.apk but you cant apply any of the livewallpaper but it installed perfectly

He posted the zip in the one before your last post.You can open that zip up an see them.But,its not going to work even with the them apks,you still need lib files and to change rosie out with the one i put up in the hacking forum.I know you don't want it to be true but its not going to work your going to do a lot of work for nothing.I do a little developing if it was possible i would gladly help you out.

Just trying to help deduce what people are complaining about. This is with the "official" 2.1 leak that was discovered last Friday 5/14/10....

I haven't had any battery issues either....but I have been a light user the last 3 days.

I don't know what's causing these problems for others, but it doesn't appear to be inherent in the 2.1 upgrade itself..... I have GPS on btw.

I haven't installed alot of apps yet due to being slammed, but maybe the fact that I haven't will help figure out what might be causing these things....

You could try going to accounts&sync and try to force it to sync by pressing sync several times on your facebook account.

done it....no luck. also did the "sync all" from the screen before that - same result. it's strange though - it does have my picture from facebook, but no one else's...

Try going to people,press menu,choose view,check facebook contacts if it not.

im going to agree with beezy all your doing is trying to give yourself a head ach to install the .apk connect your hero to your computer let the htc sync read the phone download and unzip the rar that was posted ton this thread open the folder double click and that opens the sync and install, it will install and show up when you select the wallpaper option YOU CANNOT ACTIVATE THESE because you need to overwrite the rosie.apk that htc has in sense there is NO WAY to do this unless you are ROOTED. Trust what we write about it=n these threads we have all had some experience doing this and know, we are not lik XDA that will laugh at you while you pull your hair out trying to do this, we are a kinder forum.
