Sprint HTC One - Android 4.3 Update - Discussion Thread

Jackpot. After I installed the HTC update yesterday, I went to do that as well but I must not have done it properly or accidentally skipped over it while also updating the profile.

Thanks for the help. Really nice to be able to post here and have questions answered. My carrier on the phone and in a corporate store didn't feel the need to take the time to an easy problem.

Glad to hear! Thats what were hear for, throw those questions out and someone is bound to hit on the answer or right direction.

Apparently there's a patch in the works that'll remedy the the camera issue ,but when it'll actually be released is anyone's guess

Battery has taken some sort of hit across the board. Reports seem to vary from little to huge swing in battery life. I do notice a difference and hope at least for myself being rooted with a custom ROM the devs will have a solution soon. As for stock, I hope Sprint/HTC address the issue too.

IMO the phone on 4.1.2 had awesome battery life, updating to 4.3 shouldn't come at a loss in battery life.

I have watching this issue and it perplexes me, sometimes my contacts have pictures other times they don't. I don't know what exactly is going on. I get my contact pics from being linked and sync'ed with Facebook. Maybe it is some lag in synchronization?

My messaging does the same thing. I noticed if the app is running I'll go into it and the contacts will be blank, but if I double tap home, close it, and open back up images are there, kinda annoying. Also my WiFi is terrible now , I drop calls so much more often, as soon as a call connects now my screen shuts down, normally once you put it to your ear the proximity sensor shuts it, now as soon as connects goes blank, however, my battery life has improved. Actually wishing I didn't download update, I loved this phone, now I almost at the point of getting the moto x. I'm trying to hold out, I hope these issues are resolved soon. HTC tech support, tried blaming my router, my service, etc.kept deflecting issues till I finally hung up on them, same with sprint, f@#$%ng useless. Lol

Like I said Before, until they released another update to fix the bugs, I've been using Handcent in the meantime

Contact pics issue was fixed for me by clearing cache in the messaging app after closing it

Looks like the battery life bug has hit mine since the update. I used to easily get 1.5+ days out of a charge on mine. (Not a terribly heavy user). Since the update I've noticed mine getting worse and worse each charge. Starting earlier in the week, I could no longer get a full day anymore with no real change in my normal usage. This morning has been the worst yet...took it off charge @ 7:30 AM showing 100%. By 9AM it was down to 65% with ZERO usage during that time. Made one call (~5 minutes) and then turned on power save mode. With no more usage at all, phone cut itself off just before 2PM with dead battery. Phone was extremely warm to the touch all morning as if something was running full steam, but couldn't find the culprit, whatever it was.

Guess I'm due for a backup and factory reset now. <sigh>

So glad I found this thread! My immediate issue since the update is that I am not able to group my icons into folders anymore. Possibly I'm just doing it wrong?

If you wanna group icons you have to open the app drawer and drag them into it

The only issues I'm having are (1) the WiFi notification bug, (2) the camera still sucks, and (3) the Messages contact photos sometimes don't show up. I have no WiFi connection issues, and while the signal appears different, I haven't had any issues with it. I am still considering bringing the phone into Sprint re: the camera, though, as it's often so bad it's not just worth using.

My battery life is definitely worse. I use Action Launcher, but that didn't affect it before the update. I cleared the system cache partition after the update but it hasn't seemed to help. I would really rather not do a factory reset. Any other suggestions?

Those with battery issues......see in the AT&T threads those with battery issues after 4.3 are disabling Google Maps and getting 400% better battery life...I'd try that and see if that's the culprit....If it is, then decide if you can live without google maps on your phone till it's fixed
