Sprint HTC One: KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

I cant even figure out how to add a widget to the lock screen. When I wake up the phone, I see arrows <<<< in the upper right hand corner, then they disappear. I tried swiping over but nothing happens. Any ideas?

It's a very specific spot you have to swipe from. Directly under the bottom right side of the notification bar. Swipe left then you'll see a + sign to add a widget. Once you get into the additional scenes for the widgets you can swipe anywhere to go left or right. Seems like they could have easily made it the same for the first screen though.

hey all, first post. just want to thank you all for your input on kitkat upgrade. I've got a HTC ONE on Bell network and did my update the evening of Jan 31. The day it came out. Was really excited as the only issue with 4.2.2 was my bluetooth kept disconnecting from my car. I had read kitkat fixed some bluetooth bugs.
After the update, it initially did fix the bluetooth issue, but there's some minor issues, but I can live with it. The main issues as some users reported is the incredible battery drain. I've done a factory reset and it's still terrible. There is something running and after doing a search, the site says turn this off, turn location off, turn this sync off... I mean, this was all on in 4.2.2. Well I did it anyways and it helped a bit, and I'm being generous in saying a bit. I'm now at the point of rooting my phone. Would doing this help solve the battery issue? Going from a good 24 hrs to 6 is not acceptable.

Oh other issue is video. I watch alot of netflix, and there is a slight lag in the frame rate. Working in video and images all day, I def notice this. Anyone else notice a slight lag in watching netflix?

Hey Kim, in not sure how you proceeded after your reset. A lot of times the apps we have and use can become a bit dysfunctional after a major system update. Even though you may be using the same apps in the same fashion you may have one that is not optimized for KitKat.

Personally if I'm having issues I first clear system cache. If a full reset is still needed I only add my apps back a couple at a time and monitor performance after said additions.

Tracking down the culprit can be a slow tedious process but well worth it if you fix your issue

ive been using KK since november and if anything, my battery has improved. i've certainly not had any unexpected excessive consumption of juice.

KK was designed to use less system resources it doesn't make sense for it to worsen people's batteries.

after a reset (if you have that problem) you should give it a few days until it optimises the system.

Hi Troenas,

I've you've had KK since November, you must have a rooted phone, correct?
If so, can you confirm that the lock screen is also forced on you no matter what (not passworded screen lock, but the lock screen).
I'm curious if it was an Android thing, HTC thing, or Sprint thing.

Thanks

my phone is not rooted. its the international unlocked version which got the update last year.

and yes the screen lock is forced on you by HTC.

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

The wifi will not stay off for me. I had no problems with 4.3, but now it keeps turning on every time I am neat my home network despite the fact I have it turned off. This has literally happened 4 times today.

No Im saying it disconnects and reconnects, it was a bug that was in 4.3 and it still happens on Kit Kat, just not as much as it used too

Re: The 4.4.2 Kit Kat update is available for the HTC One on Sprint

AT&T should be receiving it starting on Feb 11th, but it could possibly be later since the update is released in waves.

You're right I just tried it. Anywhere on the extreme right of the screen works when you swipe.

Actually, you can swype left from anywhere on the right hand edge of the screen - well, above the clock and the "weather unavailable" that I can't seem to get rid of.

i've just notice i cant play flash enabled content through the stock browser. originally, in the browser menu there was a check box to enable/disable flash. cant find that option anymore.... anybody else notice this? do i now need to install flash from another source???

I got it back. Just download the apk from xda dev and install. It'll show back up on the stock browser
