Sprint HTC One - No LTE?!?!

The first three days of me having the HTC one LTE was slow and I was really disappointed. Now I don't have any issues, I get LTE almost everywhere I go with acceptable speeds even where it was slow the first three days of using it and testing.

I miss the WiMax. In my area, I use to get up to 12mbp, but on average 8mbp. On 4G LTE, in my area, I get 1.2mbp or less. If I didn't have WiFi at home, my phone would have been unusable.

U should expect those speeds if your area is in the process of getting nv upgrades. I'm in Chicago and we are spectrum constrained but I avg 25mb down.

Hey all,

Yesterday I upgraded from my Galaxy Nexus to the HTC One. I can honestly say I am extremely happy with my choice. This phone is pretty awesome. I do find myself very annoyed with blinkfeed but I've removed all content from it and shoved it all the way to the left. Out of sight, out of mind?

Anyway, here's my big beef. I ALWAYS have LTE when i'm on campus. I teach and take classes here so I spend a very considerable amount of time on campus. However, the HTC One does not connect to LTE here. I did some searching and read that the LTE radio in the HTC One is operating on a different spectrum than what Sprint is currently releasing. Can someone explain all this nonsense to me? And are there any definitive dates as to when this phone will actually be able to connect to LTE? I'm not settling for the "in the near future" claims again, cuz with Sprint that means years. Lastly, do we know what radios are in the S4? If the S4 can connect, I'll reluctantly return my One and get the S4.

Thanks!

Have you tried a PRL update ?

I would like to add my case. I got a brand new HTC ONE from Sprint. I live in a neighborhood with very strong LTE coverage, official launched area. I used an app to show the signal strength. If I restart my phone or toggle the flight mode, my phone will show 4G icon. However, whenever I tried to use LTE (such as run the speedtest), the network will be switched back to EHRPD/Rev.A. I already updated my profile, PRL, and software many times. I began to realize that I may have a phone issue. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Sprint has not officially launched LTE in the Virginia/DC area. I have been getting LTE since I first turned the ONE on. The other day I was in an area of Virginia that Sprint says doesn't have LTE yet but I was getting it so I ran a speed test while sitting in my car at a red light.

Also interesting enough I never picked up LTE with my EVO LTE in the year I had it here.

I noticed your "Network" says Lte but your taskbar says you're on WiFi...

That just means when he took the screenshot he was on wifi. He clicked on that test withing the results pane and that's how he got all that data.

Example...

Below is a speed test I took the other morning right after it was done. The next is a screenshot I just took of that test. See? Also you can see at the top left when he took the test (6:31 PM) and then he took the pic at (11:59 PM) time.. ;)

Maybe someday I'll get LTE out here...Verizon had it, but ruined my S3 with their last update so I came back to Sprint. 14 years with Sprint, 9 months with Verizon.

Where are you located bro?

I have and odd case I can't figure out. I live in Portland, OR -- not officially LTE yet but there are areas with a strong LTE signal. I got my first HTC One a month ago and it picked up the a 4G signal just where Sensorly said it should. So, I had strong 4G at work all the time.

But the phone had a defective camera (blurry edges -- there's a thread about this around here), so I returned it and got a "new" (refurb) phone. This one never, ever shows 4G. I've gone into ##data# and gone through all the network options, including 4G only. Where I used to get a 4G signal I just get a x over the signal bars.

Any ideas? It seems likes it's absolutely phone specific -- why would one phone get it and the other not?

A 4g indicator but not 4g lte? That confuses me.. the HTC ONE only connects to LTE not WIMAX the only way I could think of it not loading would be if the LTE is already overcrowded with all the other sprint devices running on t in your area. To my knowledge sprint doesn't have the "4gLTE" logo everyone else has for copyright reasons maybe. Who knows though. I have LTE is some parts of St. Charles Missouri by not everywhere and it only says "4g" its connected, and its faster than the WIMAX I had on my old original EVO 4g

It should show the 4g as long as you have LTE / CDMA selected in the network preferred mode (see attached). You can get there by settings, Mobile data.

I assume the old phone (that showed 4G) was LTE -- because the phone doesn't do WIMAX and the speeds were very fast. Now, however, I never get a 4G indicator. I wonder if I got another defective phone!

I double checked that setting -- phone is set to CDMA/LTE in settings. It's set to some version of CDMA + LTE (there are a number of them) in ##DATA#. I've tried all combinations, cycled the radio off/on, etc. This phone just won't pick up an LTE signal in the same areas that my old HTC One picked it up a week ago.

Is there some way to check if the LTE radio is operational?

What was your old phone?
