If these symptoms were happening on Eclair 2.1 then I would say you have possible hardware issues, if this is something that has started since updating to EB13/EC05 then that would lead to software.

Yes. He said before it was happening with eclair. That's why I've been telling him it's hardware related.

I think the sooner he gets the phone replaced, the sooner he will start to enjoy his epic.

Sounds like that may be a viable option. Sorry Keith, with all the threads and postings I follow each day it is sometimes hard to remember and follow everything going on. Not to mention the behind the scenes ROM development and other things I'm constantly involved in.

That is why, it is great to have some very helpful members to fill in the gaps for us and provide assistance where ever they can.

Hey guys, I got the "EC05" at 2am on 3/25(just when I was sure I wasn't getting it, like I didnt get first OTA update). My fist & most obvious problem is that my "Google acct for Gmail" doesn't recognize my password so I havent been able to check my Gmail in a couple of days. Also I cant get into "Android Market" cause when I try to open Market, I'm being asked for my "password" for my Google acct. It does give me option to delete my Google acct but I'm a Newb to all this phone stuff & dont know if this will have bad effect. Can I delete acct & re-do my acct?

My own personal experience as well as the word from others on the Sprint forum where this has been rehashed ad-nauseum for the past ten days says that the EB13 to EC05 update is finally rolling out of the barn.

My phone is stock, unrooted and unmodded. The update to EB13 was done OTW. I got a notification about an hour ago and the update installed in less than five minutes. Obviously the file had secreted itself on my device before giving the notification, so it might have happened while I was taking a break from obsessively checking for the update.

All my apps and settings have remained in place. I'm grinding through the menus looking for any differences in operation or features this software might provide...but everything appears to point to an improved experience on an already rock solid device.

Got EC05 last night

Since Eclair DI18 was so slow, I manually updated my Epic to Froyo EB13 and did a hard reset, since I had only had the phone for a few days and didn't have much data to lose. No problems at all with EB13 - faster and good battery life (also many chargers). Last night I received the Froyo EC05 update - took 10 minutes max and has worked fine since then. (I did remove the update.zip file from the manual update from the SD card root directory.)

Well, no.

This is the google account you created when you first got the phone. You probably haven't worried much about that password since then. Try going to gmail.com and going through the password recovery process first.

You can't delete the first google account you created when you got the phone. Apps like Market and OS features like sync are tied to it. Also, if you purchased any apps they are tied to it.

You can do a "factory reset" on the phone and wipe out that account, but you'll start over again with everything. It'll be a clean EC05 phone like it was out of the box. If you resort to this, well, be sure to keep that password safe The worst thing a factory reset plus a new google account will do is lose your paid apps.

I recieved EC05 this morning around 0730. I went from manual update EB13 to automatic update EC05. The update took about 4 minutes. Everything seems to be working well.

Out of curiousity - did the EC05 update delete your Asphalt5 game? I am sure you had it in your EB13, otherwise you might not have gotten the update.

My ota ec05 did not delete the asphalt5 demo.

No it did not delete my Asphalt5 game....

Yes I can confirm it is in the update package. I have opened it up and the ".apk" for it is in there...

Strange.. I just looked at my copy of the official OTA update.zip package that for Eclair DI18 to EC05 and its there..

Not doubting you but I have the official OTA package and both DI18 and EB13 have the Asphault 5 Demo in the package.

Could be that this is something you need to "setup" using the Sprint ID? I have no clue, I just know what I see on my copies of the official OTA's.

Edit: I have included a screenshot of my copy of the official OTA update from Eclair 2.1 DI18 to Froyo EC05. You can see Ashault 5 Demo is in there...

Hey - had posted in the other EC05 thread, but have an issue identified - and in resolving had a couple of questions.

Rooted w/one click CW v2.5.1.0 - so when ota hit, did not install & looks like if I do new EC05 update.zip will not install also (confirmed error-Status 0).

Read and solution is to reset to stock EB13 via Odin, then OTA will come/install no prob. Or looks like I can do Odin to new EC05 w/prerooted ect.. But both are full wipe to get to EC05. If doing full wipe, then want to go whole hog into EC05 with EXT4 .

So two questions:
Anyway to do EC05 at this point without Full Wipe ?
If full wipe then, does the current, Froyo EC05 Prerooted/ClockWorkMod v2.5.1.0 note says go to Procedure 2 in link, but link says EXT4 can only be done with EB13 - so feel caught in a loop on where to start. Also says must be done via Clockwork v3.0.0.6 - which if I had would not error with OTA or update.zip EC05

Any comment or suggestion would be helpful .

You will have to Odin back to EB13 or Eclair and either A. Receive the OTA update notice and allow it to update or B. Odin back and then use the update.zip method to update.

You can use the Odin prerooted "No Wipe" method to upgrade straight to a prerooted/EC05 Froyo with CWM 2.5.1.0 installed. You can then have your downloaded copy of any EC05 based ROM "Bonsai/midNIGHT/Syndicate" ready on your SDCARD and do the EXT4 conversion without going back to EB13. Basically just run the OneClickRoot EXT4 package and then at then end of the conversion once your back in CWM3.0.0.6 then flash the EC05 based ROM and your done.

History: I updated my perfect working DI18 with the EB13 update.zip from Samsung's site before it was pulled and all went well - then I updated again using AC's version the; ECO05 without data lost (it was an early version probably within a day from when you posted it) - that is when I lost the Asphalt5 Demo.

The reason I ask is because the official small 13.3mb update zip for EB13 to EC05 seems ot leave the Asphalt5 Demo in after it updates.

Since then, you have sent me the Asphalt5 Demo flashable zip which I haven't installed yet - still deciding if I should for future eligibility of OTA or just leave it out to gain a little memory as I don't play games much, but I do enjoy using the Asphalt5 Demo - just enough for me.

Finally, I have a rooted, all fix's patched on stock rom and kernel EC05, running as well as my eclair (really it was fast and stable with only one bug that I had - a hard coded gps bug - but gps worked fine)

People, don't get me wrong, the EC05 upgrade with all the little extra features is nice upgrade from my DI18 - it simply had to be tweaked when it broke a few things.

It could very well be that the update.zip or OTA update for some reason deletes out the Asphault 5 demo. Its weird to say the least because I can find the .apk as I showed in the screen shot above in the OTA update.

Sounds like you got it fixed with the zip file I sent.

Edit: I did look at the EB13 to EC05 update and it seems as if the Asphault Demo wasn't included in that package. It almost appears as if it is updating the app list when going OTA from EB13 to EC05 and your losing the Asphault 5 demo. Eclair 2.1 (DI18) to EC05 seems to have kept the Asphault 5 demo.. Strange to say the least...

Got the ec05 update PTA. Phone seems to run a little smoother but only getting 1100 quadrant benchmark
