BTW I just found out that Sprint automatically put the $7 insurance on my EVO without even mentioning it or asking. I called CS to just check on my plan and that is how I found out.
Everyone may want to check since I think Sprint is automatically adding the insurance. I don't mind it on such an expensive device. Just wish they had told me up front and I forgot to ask when I bought the phone.
The New York store did this to me with the Pre. I noticed it on my receipt.
Another thing that Sprint does is defaults to the TEP plan at $7 per month which includes both insurance and extended warranty coverage. You have to specifically request the insurance only at $4 per month. For the extra $3, I don't think you get any benefit while the phone is still under a manufacturer's warranty - they will still fix it in store. So you are paying $36 the first year to obtain the right to extended warranty coverage after the first year. For my money I would just take the insurance and if your phone has a mechanical failure after the first year either pay for the repair myself or use my credit to buy a new device.
