Sprint Tri-Band LTE Phone Discussion Thread aka Sprint Spark

Re: Official Sprint Tri-Band LTE Phone Discussion Thread

I don't think you're going to see Sprint shout too much about Phones being Tri-Band, unless they try to market 2.5 LTE as a different flavor of LTE (LTE+ or whatever)...Why because I think it would confuse Joe Consumer as to why tri-band is better, as well Joe might start thinking Sprint has jipped him and start calling in demanding upgrades.

Re: Official Sprint Tri-Band LTE Phone Discussion Thread

Well, the LG G2 has been announced.
This is supposed to be a Tri-Band phone for Sprint, but no notes of this yet.
They are probably gonna wait for a couple of months before the term "Tri-Band" is used to give them time to get as much of the infrastructure in place.
Just my $.02

Supposedly the 'G2' is this device:

First Sprint Tri-Band LTE Phone Clears FCC (Phone Scoop)

The FCC today approved the LG LS-980. The phone supports all three frequency bands Sprint plans to use for LTE in the coming years. It's the first such phone to gain the FCC's approval, although the company Sprint currently uses the 1900 band (band 25) for LTE, but in the coming year will start deploying LTE in the 800 and 2500 bands the company acquired from Nextel and Clearwire, respectively. FCC documents show that the LG LS-980 also supports CDMA, as well as GSM and WCDMA for global roaming. NFC is also included. The FCC approved a potentially related VS-980 phone with Verizon frequency bands the day before.

G2 will be a nice upgrade for my wife's Optimus G.:)

Hell, if it comes to AT&T, and Google Makes an eddition, hopefully LG will unlock the boot loader, and I will slide the GE RUU onto it.

I was using the GS4 for a short while, but I don't do ROM's... and since Sammy locked that device up real right, and I'm a GE OS nut, I went to the HTC One that's conversion friendly.

Well, having been using an 'EVO 4G' then 'EVO 4G LTE'..... I think I'm moving to the 'LG G2' or 'Note III' (assuming it's Tri-Band). Honestly I would be curious what the consensus is between these two brands. I've never owned a Samsung and have only owned an LG flip phone in the past.

Well goes without saying that Samsung is the Premier brand of Android. LG while previously was more an Economy/Budget/Carrier Specific OEM I think they're trying to capitalize on HTC downward spiral from the #2 Android OEM and move into take it's place. Motorola is now what LG used to be, maybe Google muscle can pull Moto from being know as Verizon "Bi***" OEM to something more of a contender to Sammy and LG in the future (The X wont do it) only time will tell.

Re: Official Sprint Tri-Band LTE Phone Discussion Thread

I love Samsung, but all of the info and specs on the G2, along with it having Tri-Band, is REALLY impressing me at this moment in time.
The Note 3, and possibly a re-released S4, having the Tri-Band set up will create a difficult decision for me, and probably many others, on which one to get.

They should first fix whatever band they have before feeding people tri-band BS...company that can't even deliver 3G, has been making big claims about 4G lol

Chillax. They are doing the best they can with what they have.
They got to the game late but is having a great 2nd Half and catching up pretty well.
With any luck the will soon be fighting for the top.

This must mean that they are getting rid of stock for the new tri-band HTC One right.
Maybe. I have seen weirder things happen.
I kinda like the FM thingy.

Re: Official Sprint Tri-Band LTE Phone Discussion Thread

I am approximately 1000x more excited for a triband LTE Nexus on Sprint than that supposed GS4 refresh. And all you trolls were so sure Google would never ever do another CDMA Nexus? Sprint FTW!

Sprint has a landing page for the LG G2 up and running:

The LG G2 Phone - Intuitive Technology, Redefined | Sprint

Looks like the G2 pre-order will start on Oct 11th:

Sprint's LG G2 goes up for pre-order on Oct. 11 for $199 on contract | Android Central

Probable release on Nov 1st is my guess.
