Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

I just bought the G2 Tuesday; was hoping for Kit-Kat out of the box, but no dice. Checking for updates did no good for me either. I always like to do a factory reset after any major update, and really wanted Kit-Kat before I moved all my stuff to the new phone. Had withdrawal pains from going without my phone set up the way I like, so I finally broke down and spend most of last night setting things up. Wouldn't you know, Kit-Kat showed up this morning! Won't have time to install it before heading to work, so we'll see how things go tonight. So far I'm loving this phone, hoping things will only get better! :)

You bought your phone yesterday and got kitkat today? I hate you....

I got mine the first day. ;-)

I've been there and know your pain. Usually takes me forever.

Apparently that is how it is supposed to work - this is the equivalent of the Google Services framework data clearing. Only Google knows why it's done this way.

If you set your phone up already, just use the LG Backup app.

I woke up to KitKat this morning! I'll have to go back and read some threads, as I forgot why I wanted it so bad...

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

I got my update last night, but my phone won't install. It keeps failing. Have tried a couple factory resets and that doesn't solve the problem. I tried to load it from the recovery, but all I got was this error...

-- Install /cache ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Warning: No file_contextsVerifying current system...
"/system/app/LGHome_Theme_Optimus.apk" has unexpected contents.
Installation aborted.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening? The guy at the Sprint store was useless and just tried to charge me $75 for a new device.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Can I get the update from LG, the pc suite or whatever? This waiting **** is for the birds.

I don't blame you for hating me :) - if a one day delay is all I have to put up with, I figure I'm way ahead...

Installing the update at this very moment, keeping my fingers crossed that all goes smoothly.

Hope you don't have to wait much longer...

Yea, I figured there was about a 50/50 chance that the update would be waiting for me when I started up the new phone. Always the optimist...

Good idea - being new to LG phones, I hadn't thought of that. I only installed the bare essentials that I need to get through an average work day, but I backed it up and we'll see how it goes when I finish updating to Kit-Kat in a few minutes. :D

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Update got pushed to my phone about 3 hours ago. I won't be installing it until after work tomorrow. Will report back with results.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Spent the last three hours setting up my new iPad, and when I was done, I checked and he update has already downloaded. I just installed it and the phone seems fine so far.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Well, the Kit-Kat update went smoothly, as did the factory reset. No issues to report yet, except my download speeds seem a little slower and signal strength a little lower, though it's early to say for sure. The restore from LG Backup was about 80% successful (glad I remembered to store the backup file on my computer!) - seems like just my email and a few minor things had to be set up from scratch again. Now to see how today goes!

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Got the update this morning. Didn't do a FDR or restore my backup and everything is running in tip top shape. EXCEPT for the bluetooth thats draining battery but not on.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Finally....got....it....this....morning....

Woke up and my phone was dead...it must have used up all my battery downloading the update overnight as it wasn't charged...great, probably downloaded 99 percent of kitkat and the download is corrupted....watch me brick my phone after being the last g2 in the known world to finally update

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Still can't get my update to install. Took it by sprint and the techs said they had NONE of the firmwares for it yet and I would have to call LG. LG says the only way they can help me is if I mail the phone in. Sigh. Does anyone know how to flash back to the original ZC7? Maybe I can take a step back and try to update from there? So sad about this.

Sprint is so lazy... I was able to fix this in a couple of hours. They just wanted to give me a new device and of course collect money from me. As if I don't give them enough every month.

Anyway, I was able to use this thread on XDA Forums to revert back to ZV8 and then my phone automatically got the OTA ZVA and ZVC updates. Installed without any trouble. The process will wipe all your data though, so be aware of that before you start. The post seems hard when you first look at it, but it's quite easy if you just follow the steps. Hope this helps for anyone else having this issue!

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***
