Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - Candy coated goodness.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

It's reached the point where I am going to hit the check update button and if it shows an update is ready I am not going to know what to do

Five slowest things in the world:
5) paint drying
4) grass growing
3) tree sap flowing in the dead of winter
2) a dead snail
1) Sprint's kitkat rollout for the LG2

I disagree with number 4. When you live in South Carolina it grows way too fast, especially when you're the one cutting it haha.

Finally got the update Tue night around ten pm.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Update must have downloaded last night. It gave me a prompt to install this morning, Kit Kat at last.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Still can't get my update to install. Took it by sprint and the techs said they had NONE of the firmwares for it yet and I would have to call LG. LG says the only way they can help me is if I mail the phone in. Sigh. Does anyone know how to flash back to the original ZC7? Maybe I can take a step back and try to update from there? So sad about this.

Got my KK this AM also.
Fresh backup. Offload file. Update to KK. Factory reset. File back onto phone. Restore. Profit.

So, did you use LG Backup app on your phone to do the backup?

Just curious about when you start your phone after doing the factory reset, when you log back into your Google account doesn't it start to sync your contacts, apps from Play Store, etc? How does restoring the backup interfere with these?

The Kitkat update. Starts to install and then aborts partway through. Several people on XDA are having the same problem

Restoring the LG Backup brings back apps, app-settings, app-saves, in-app-purchases, (and all the stuff that you lose and can't get back by simply redownloading the app from Google Play), after a factory reset.

Right, I understand that, but my question is how is it handled if your LG Backup restore is restoring app ABC, yet app ABC hasn't be installed from Play Store yet (and same thing for if it is in the process of installing it, or it has already been downloaded and installed)?

Also, does restore restore side loaded apps and their data?

LG Backup App is a system app. It already has root access, even if you are not rooted. It does what a Nandroid does except it doesn't copy the system image or boot image.
And yes it basically sideloads all your apps back. (Titanium Backup) style.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

well, that sucked. tried twice and it wont' update. Still on 4.2.2. I backed it up and did a factory reset. Still didn't work. I'm not about try to do it again. Hopefully Sprint/Google/LG fix this.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

well well well... sometimes you just know.

I was going to do the frameworks deal the other night, and figured I'd waited this long, just wait til the 10th, and when midnight came, I checked for it and shazam! I would guess about everyone has it now?

now sporting KitKat on my white G2 in FL! thanks for all the comments, I learned a few various things. ;) later

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

I just bought the G2 Tuesday; was hoping for Kit-Kat out of the box, but no dice. Checking for updates did no good for me either. I always like to do a factory reset after any major update, and really wanted Kit-Kat before I moved all my stuff to the new phone. Had withdrawal pains from going without my phone set up the way I like, so I finally broke down and spend most of last night setting things up. Wouldn't you know, Kit-Kat showed up this morning! Won't have time to install it before heading to work, so we'll see how things go tonight. So far I'm loving this phone, hoping things will only get better! :)
