Make sure that you are in download mode, and odin is seeing your phone. Use the pda button to find the .tar file and only have reboot checked.

Yelp I'm have all that checked and the right file:'( does it has something todo with drivers I have those but I dont know what to do now my phone want even turn on only thing I can do it put it in download

I'm on stock DI18, rooted. I should be able to apply the update.zip, but when I boot into recovery and try to update, I get an assert failed from apply_patch_check for /system/app/Settings.apk

I assume this means that at some point, that apk got modified from stock, so i'll instead have to wipe and reinstall?

Was on TER 1.5

1: Used these instructions to go back to DI18

2: Tried the Windows installer for EB13... but it wouldn't run correctly on my 64bit windows 7 OS.

3: Downloaded the Mac ZIP and placed it at the root of my SD card.

4: Shut down the phone, then powered back up using the stock recovery mode (press and hold volume down+camera+power for a few seconds)

5: Selected "apply sdcard:update.zip" (You navigate by using volume up/down & select by hitting home key)

6: Rooted using one click root via these instructions.

Everything is working great. I miss the TER rom, however I just tested out my bluetooth headset which never fully worked with TER or otherwise as far as clicking the headset to dial using voice recog. Guess what! It works now! My biggest issue with the Epic is now working. I'm happy.

Ok, I updated my Epic by putting update.zip on the sd card. Everything went great, no issues there. However is anyone else noticing that the android keyboard no longer has any "smarts". It just types the letters I press and the autocorrect is essentially useless now! What gives? Did I do something wrong?
Well, I'm not sure what the deal is with the froyo android keyboard is, but it just didn't let me pound out the messages like it did when I was on eclair. Luckily, I found the gingerbread keyboard which XDA has created that you don't even need to be rooted to use. Renamed Gingerbread Keyboard - updated 2010-12-28 - xda-developers I don't have any problem with rooting, but I really don't have much need for it so I'm waiting until I've absolutely got to have it. I was about to try TER but then official froyo was announced so I wait. I think once we've got an EXT4 rom based on EB13 I may go custom roms as I think that will be the only path to Gingerbread with this phone.

But if anyone else has a problem with their Keyboard be sure to check out the Gingerbread version, its great.

I did all the steps and booted into stock recovery and get this message:

E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

What do I do now?

I would double check that you have the correct driver. Also, try getting rid of the .md5 so that the file ends in .tar

I found this on the (How To)If Odin does recognize your phone but is failing during installation of the system files, you may have a bad download. Try downloading the files again.
Try downloading what file again not very clear:'(

I am guessing the whole windows installer. Make sure when you download it, it is around 200 mb. Then get the .tar file and try again. If not maybe odin back to eclair and try from there.

The download is saying 91.1 MB from Samsungs website.

That is the update.zip, the windows installer is more like 200 mb, as it is the one that contains the .tar file.

Do I need the windows installer? I thought I could put the update.zip on my sd card and reboot from there?

I used the windows installer becasue I was on dk28 and used odin to update with the .tar file, I am not sure what method would be best for you.

Ok I will retry it this just really sucks that I'm having problems and I followed the instructions . If I cant get it back can you give a good link to eclair or dk28 back please or at least bring my phone out it's state that it's in

DID IT. Re downloaded the file, and moved it to the SD card and no problems, so far. I realized that I changed the name of the file before when I put it on my card.

Windows method worked for me from the leaked froyo, but screwed up my sister's phone (though sprint store was able to get it working again)
