Ive already have 4 customers come in today with camera, alarm clock & gallery not working.

They played stupid and said the update came OTA. When I checked the SD card they ALL have the update.zip file in there LULZZ!

I teared some customers a new butthole for lying to me =P

this is the same, completely unusable update they put out before. Sadly someone apparently needs to tell samsung developers that simply switching the version number from DK28 to EC13 doesn't do anything. The entire development department should be fired. You can see that they have no talent, if you compare the software that HTC writes versus the software samsung writes its quite clear why they had so much trouble giving out a simple update. While many people on this forum will defend samsungs 70% success rate on the install, I find it outrageous that they would spend this much time doing nothing. I now have to roll back this update and I hope there is a way to opt out of all future updates. The phone is fine with the older version (2.1) and having a working phone is much higher value to me then having a paper weight.

Not trying to attack you but either you modded some stuff you should have not you have or you have a bad phone or something because almost every one has had a good update and not many probs and there are a number of things that are better on EB13 then dk28 DK28 was unstable and did not work to well this build (eb13) works dang well for me and most others...

sorry you having probs hope you can work it out I would nuke your phone and start from scratch i bet you have better luck doing that...

I did all the steps and booted into stock recovery and get this message:

E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

What do I do now?

Something went wrong with your download or maybe you need to check you sd card for errors and fix then try again using the update.zip If that does not work remove your card put it in your PC back up all your files format it then put your files back on it and try again...

I manually updated to froyo using the mac download and placing I on sd card. I'm having a number of issues now and don't know what to do. For some reason my notifications only resul in vibrate and when I attempt to change settings my phone vibrates in somewhat of a pattern and blacks out momentarily. Then gives me repeat error messeges. I also just discovered the phone reads my sd card as empty. I am also unable to open the camera. And I am able to use the camera using vignette but when its tries to save any pics it shows as an error. What do I do!?

LOL thats funny I dont mind helping people out but when they lie to me then ya i dont like to help them when they do that The sprint store were i am always send customers my way i repair there phones and can fix most things short of water damage...

Remove your SD card back up your files and format it reload all your files back to the card then do a hard reset that should fix what probs your having you may have had a damaged download or maybe you had a error on your sd card and could not read some files when it did the update...

I finally got mine working! I ended up having to Odin back to stock which was very easy! The update went right through after that.

I wish I would have tried this before I wasted money on Root Explorer trying to reinstall an app I never deleted! It's aright, I'm happy now!!!

No more rooting for me... :-D

Not long at all. Just follow the instructions. However, it will basically wipe your phone and you'll start from scratch (it's like using ODIN).

p.s. use the old one click root method for dk28 i tried the one for eb13 that includes cwm3xxx & bricked the hell out of my phone twice

Ok OMG I finally got my phone updated using the windows method . I'm telling you guys right now I'm never ever ever want to use Odin AGAIN That was the most awful experience !!!!!

I updated so far no issues.
Its funny that when it rebooted I didnt loose apps.

So I went to close some of my apps on the task manager and hit close all, which closed something named "System Update". Was that the update to Froyo? If so, does that mean I wont get the update or will it try again? If not, then do I have to do the manual update?

Just do I'm straight before I try the upgrade. Rooted eclair with custom rom, the windows install method should work for me, right?

Froyo Update

I did the manual Froyo update last night and was a little frustrated when it first booted up. I guess it was changing a lot of stuff in the phone because there was times where it would stop responding and reboot on its own. After thinking I made some mistakes in the installation process, i just let it be for about 15 minutes. After it was ready, i checked all my apps and accounts and it is working better than it ever has! i like the added features on the widgets that notify u of a message and not just the notification bar. The only issue i am having is my email is on a corporate exchange server and now i have to unlock my phone every time i wake it up. this is annoying and i wish it didn't come with Froyo. is there a way to stop this screen lock? i tried to delete the account, disable the remote admin, and disable the lock. But when i re created the account, it asked again and i couldn't finish the email set up without letting it do so. Any help would be great.

I tried the manual install and got an error in the update.zip. code 7 i believe.
any suggestions??

From my understanding that is one of the features of 2.2. The ability to require a password lock when using corporate email. I know my Mom's company would only let her set it up if she had a phone running 2.2 (she got the Optimus S)
