Staples will be selling new 3rd party cases Nexus 7 next week

I went to my local staples after work today, I asked a guy about the cases and he said he had no idea that they were even going to stock cases specifically for the nexus 7. He then said maybe one of their kindle cases would fit. No dice I think I'm going to try another staples tomorrow.

Don't understand how they do not know. Every store I have been to has had a sign that stated the cases would begin arriving the week of 7/22. But so far every store has no idea when.

Was in the Concord NH Staples yesterday afternoon. They had no cases, and no clue about when they might have them.

This is starting to look like a marketing ploy to bring people in. Or they dropped the case and fell back to the marketing ploy. Either way something is wrong.

Not sure if anyone read my post from 2 days ago, my Staples got the cases in that were on the sign.
They are Kindle Fire cases, it says that right on the packaging, The only ones they got were those funky looking ones from the sign.
That was it.
I bought the Rocketfish universal case at Besy Buy today. It holds the Nexus very snug. The strap covers the power button, so I don't have that strap on. It's still snug with 3 straps on.
For $25, it isn't that bad.

I'm using a case that I bought for my Polaroid at Big Lots. I is a generic (says Icon on the back). It was cheap but the Nexus fits snugly. The strap in the upper right corner does hide the power button but it's not hard to get to it. The girl that bought my Polaroid said she saw the same case at Wal-Mart. I can't remember what I paid at Big Lots but it was under $15 I'm pretty sure. Has anyone seen the case they are selling on the Play Store for $19.99 plus $9 for shipping?

My local staples also did not have the cases today (nor any Nexus 7's in stock), but they did have the sign, and no idea when they were getting the cases. I'm thinking there are better options through Amazon, etc, but it's nice to have some hands-on time with a case before purchase, and can be worth the extra cost of retail for that hands-on time sometimes.

Went to another Staples, about 20 miles from my town.
No cases (or 16 GB Nexus 7s), guy said mid August.
Hopefully these will be made for Nexus 7 and not Kindle.

I like the first one in the pick, what you can see of it. The one near the bottom that looks like a book. However in person the faux effects usually look a lot cheesier than in advertising photos.

Mother in law has the red one. The script is embossed, actually very good quality and not cheesy at all.View attachment 32989

The cases in the Staples photo are verso" e- reader cases from Light Wedge. Website below if you are looking for other designs.

I picked up a Genuine Leather case from eBay, it is a M2U case made specifically for the Nexus 7. BTW, it has the magnet built in, is very well made, and turns off when closed, on when opened, does not effect it when folded back. Some guy from Ohio named blueangeldirect was selling them.

I received the case today and am returning it tomorrow morning. I attached a link to a video I made of the case. For anyone who was considering this as an option please save your money.

For some reason I can upload a video from my phone to Youtube but can't make it public (annoying).
Anyway, the Nexus barely goes into the case. The case itself is bulky and ugly tbh. The case has cutouts for the buttons and charging port however you really have to dig your fingers in there to get to the buttons. The back speaker is covered (no cutout). The case is magnetic to open and close but it does NOT turn the screen on and off. I am returning it today.

I bought one of these and quickly returned it, too. It's an ugly case and the the stand part doesn't let it sit at a good angle. And as you said, there is no sleep/wake function. $40 is an outrageous price for this case. I bought a $12 MoKo case and a $6 Accessorize Your Life case. I put the MoKo on there and haven't looked back. I'll probably get around to trying the AYL case, but I think it doesn't have the sleep/wake magnet, so it's probably destined to be a backup case.
