In an attempt to reduce battery consumption, i installed an app called Startup Auditor. It's an unrooted V.

It's showing a couple apps that I can't disable on startup.

Service Programu -
package name - com.lge.SprintHiddenmenu
/system/app/SprintHiddenMenu

SIM Toolkit -
package name - com.android.sdk
/system/app/Stk.apk

Does anyone know what these are exactly? What they do, and if you have them as well?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has figured out what this "Service Programu" process / app / is? The icon looks like some Asian Anime thing and "Programu" is apparently Czech (for "program").

If you check out its permissions, it looks like it's able to do everything. Seems very suspicious to me. I called Virgin Mobile and they could not confirm that it is theirs or LG's.

I formatted the SD card and did a hard reset on the phone and it's still there, if you inspect the phone with a startup editor app. It appears under the system processes. It doesn't seem to be legit to me, yet I can't remove it. At the same time, it could be legit, but if so, LG or Virgin Mobile shouldn't be putting such vague things on their phones. Am I just being paranoid?

Furthermore, I am pretty annoyed that I can't remove Twidroyd, Poynt, SCVNGR, etc.!

It's a whole mess of hidden menus and settings really, more than just the ##VIRGIN# stuff. Some work, some say they aren't supported, and others need your programming code to change.

Using Lancherpro, you can add these as shortcuts to all the different activities that they are, if you're as curious as I was.

Service Programu 2.2.1, with the description "Sprint Hidden Menu."
Is it me, or does the icon look like Yuna from Final Fantasy X?

Mine does not even have that sounds like spyware or you downloaded child porn and the FBI installed a tracking app on your phone.
I would throw it away or duct tape it to a stray dog to throw them off track.and move to Thailand.

Sprint hidden menu is for roaming. Sure, we don't roam but I would hesitate to uninstall/disable it because you might mess up your connection.

Your phone does have it, unless you removed it with a custom ROM.

By the way you all may want to check out Android Assistant to stop start up apps..

Guys, an app called Autostarts is by far the best app to help prevent junk from loading on boot. I've tried other programs in the past, and they never seemed to list the apps that I do not want to be loaded on startup. Autostarts lists everything and is great. Check it out.

You're just a troll wherever you go aren't you?

+1.. great app. it not only prevents unwanted app startups on a reboot, but you can use it to prevent app startups when there is connectivity change , or a host of other system events that can trigger apps to startup.

Okay, I've got this problem. Can it be reopened for discussion, please?

This must be harmful. There is absolutely no way, at all, absolutely, that this is legit software that came with the phone. You can't dismiss that just because it is called "hiddenmenu" and we know what a hidden menu on most phone is.
I doubt LG is a huge Yuna fan.
The app as all permissions.
My phone's been acting funky since I noticed I had this (freezes, random slow hiccups and fades black for a 2 seconds when waking up). One of the permissions is that it can read Gmail. I'm noting that Gmail keeps and keeps popping up. I force close and a minute later there it is again (didn have that problem before either).

The LG Optimus V doesn't have a removable SIM card (i dont know a lot about SIM cards, I guess all phones have it, some removable and some not or maybe those that don't have it as removable don't have it all?) and I'm fairly positive that the phone didn't have that SIM Toolkit app before either.

This is extremely unnerving as I know this thing is reading my data (it vibrates and makes a notification sound even where there is nothing on the notifications bar, this Service Programu app also has control over vibrations). Seriously help?

I'm curious about the yuma hidden menu too I don't think its spyware since its been on my phone out of the box but surely its there for a purpose

It's not harmful. Your probably screwing up your phone by not letting android take care of itself. You do not need a task killer, start up block or anything else. Read this if you want to know why you don't need these things.
