Stock Messaging App

I've searched and maybe missed the answer to my question, but does the stock messaging app include an unread count or badge? I know there are several third party apps that do, but I like to stick to stock apps if possible. Thanks

If the past is any sign of the future, this isn't the case. I don't think HTC has ever had counts on their messaging app.

I use Hangouts, but I just switched back to the stock messaging app in order to check. The Desire Eye doesn't animate the notifications on the icon.

On my M8 my test app would lag because I don't like to delete messages or photos in the text messages. I switched to TEXTRA in the app store and I haven't looked back at the HTC stock messaging app. Thing is that Textra accepts comments to improve the app. The coolest function I thought they had was that your data would automatically turn on in order to send a group or MMS message. However, Google killed the API for it. Who wants to toggle data on/off when the app can turn it on to send, then turn it off right after. Dang you Google.

Try out Textra everyone.
