strange battery behaviour

My nexus 7 has never had any of the reported problems with lag, battery life etc. Battery usually lasts about 8 hours of use both before and after 4.2.1. Last night I was using N7 when warning came up for low battery at 16% which was about right I had been using it for about 8 hours since last charge, I didn't have my charger with me so decided to carry on for a bit before charging, I used it for 3 hours watching BBC IPlayer, playing games and finally reading a bit of a book and it only went down to 6%, so 3 hours quite intensive use only used 10% of the battery.

Is this normal? I usually charge at around 20% so does that mean I could get about another 6 hours if I let the battery go right down to 0?

No comments on battery usage, but I see you can get BBC iplayer. Which workaround did you use??

I just downloaded the apk files that someone posted on the xda developers forum. I'm not rooted and not technically minded, they just put two links which I just had to download and its worked ever since (that was in September). I think the new BBC media player works on the nexus 7 doesn't it?

Here you go I had saved the post
Flash & BBC iPlayer Working on Nexus 7 - xda-developers
All I did was install the Flash apk and the BBC iPlayer apk, I have also downloaded the BBC media player from the play store and it works fine but that is probably because I've already got the old workaround installed.

I haven't installed Firefox beta or any other browser, I have always used chrome.
