SFHUB,

Are you saying that if one has OTA VC then they can KP500 with Zefie's VC cab? we dont have to go V9 then back to VC?

Your work is much appreciated.

I vote once you have rom flashing and kernel flashing included you get a donation link as your signature tag...

Drellisdee's custom recovery is the OG custom recovery.

Did you attempt to flash xionia clockwork recovery while in recovery mode? Cause that won't work at all.

No, look what I did is that I unlocked it like it said, pressed allow really quick when it appeared, and it went into android recovery. I pressed reboot and let my phone load. In about 5 minutes later I wanted to flash thunderom but when I went into recovery, it was android recovery and not xionia clockwork. What did I do wrong since I followed the instructions step-by-step on screen?

EDIT: wait sorry, I just read the lg optimus control center post and I noticed it said "install kernels" and stuff. Does that mean that the custom recovery is installed in my phone but I haven't put/flashed it there yet? If so how do I do that?

For an out of the box refurb with V9, you can just Force Flash VC using the instructions in the reference section.

The following is just for the refurb unit that you had installed OTA VC on.

If you installed the OTA VC, there is no way to root that yet, so you need to Force Flash V9 to be able to root again.

The critical piece after Force Flashing V9 is to flash the V9 recovery (Force Flash V9 doesn't touch the recovery partition, so you still have the VC recovery partition after Force Flash V9).

You have enough knowledge that I think you should just follow the alternate instructions for advanced users in the reference section. It'll be less steps.

In step 4 of the Advaned instructions, just use the Force Flash VC procedure instead of using the LG Software Updater tool.

We should probably continue the conversation in the Idiots guide thread so as not to clutter this one with off-topic stuff.

Go through the custom recovery installation in the Control Center again. This time choose drellisdee's custom recovery. And no, the Control Center is designed to flash the recovery image for you.

Gave it a shot earlier tonight, fantastic job :) I'd like to make one suggestion if possible though. If you could, please provide a means to reset the stated answers given when you first start up the program. During my process of going from V9 to VC (or attempting to, but that's another story) tonight, when I was just giving your program a shot earlier, I had just entered everything relevant to how my phone was at first (ie - V9, rooted, thunderc recovery). Then, after finally getting VC loaded, I went back into your program and realized that there was no way to make it ask for those values again. Since I'd already said I was rooted (was on V9), I was unable to use it to root VC. Finally tracked down the registry values that I had to clear in order to make your program ask the questions again... but maybe some sort of "reset config" type option would be nice?

Again though... fantastic work. Looking forward to future additions.

I tried but same thing... I went through the installation and when I booted into recovery it was still the android recovery... Somethings wrong :/

So I'm just trying to clarify, is the question about recoveries? If so you can find more information in the sticky guide, specifically post #2 which explains the difference between the recoveries. One is based off Koushe's clockwork and one is based off amon_ra which is kind of the grandfather of custom recoveries.

If the question is about use or functionality of the control center then those questions need to be posted in the control center thread. If every person with a question posts outside of that thread then drew is chasing his tail trying to help people and valuable information is scattered around multiple posts rather than in a central location.

Thanks in advance

So much for today's roadmap... Windows 7 hates me and keeps crashing all of a sudden. Thank god for hourly incremental backups.

In addition to my other post about giving the ability to reset the program's settings (so you can re-enter them), when you get things back up in a workable state on your end (:(), would it be possible to include the 1.2 version of the Thunderc recovery instead of the 1.1 version? 1.2 allows for sub-folders, which makes dealing with files to flash a HELL of a lot easier.

Thanks in advance.

Huh, I could have sworn I included 1.2 with the Control Center. Weird. That will be included in the next update for sure. If you want you can download 1.2, rename it to drellisdee.img and overwrite the one in the "customrecovery" folder.

Apologies if it was, I actually only attempted the CWM recovery (since I just wanted to give it a shot from Thunderc 1.2). Just assumed that it would be 1.1 since that's (for some reason) still the one that's shown on the sticky for that recovery... with 1.2 virtually hidden in the thread.

Thanks... looking forward to the next update.

So, I:
1. Had USB Debug enabled
2. Ran the tool, and unrooted my manual root I had done after the LG Updater tool update, and rerooted using the tool
3. went through the process for installing the Xionia custom recovery, reaching the "successful" message

The phone reboots, but I still don't see the new recovery, just the same old stock recovery......

What am I not doing correctly?

Did you verify that you were ACTUALLY rooted? Sometimes it doesn't work, most times it does. Reboot recovery and run the root tool again.

EDIT: I need to ask this, because it is important. Did you apply the V8_to_V9 update.zip and get the expected error message?

yessir, i did, and i know i have SU enabled, because I saw the multiple prompts for SU to allow the change right before it reboots.

Also, as a side test, i run minfreemanager, and mybackup pro both of which require root access to function.
They both work great, and when use them for the first time after a reboot, i get the "superuser has granted permissions..." dialog
