Super hot new Spectrum Rom

Im a truck driver n use my cell service as my internet on laptop... Main reason I rooted was for wireless wifi tethering
That's a bit disappointing, but ROM looks nice so far and a big thanks for that...

just download foxfi. I've found it to be the best mobile hotspot app. open garden is a close second, then barnacle.

the next release of popcorn kernal will be overclocked too. I have been consideing going back to popcorn . The speed was sufficient for me and the battery life was better, although then i go back to slow charge. The charge time on blitzkrieg is amazing! This phone is starting ot get really fun, amazing what this thing can do.

yea it's very nice for sure hollywood. Mine is running great! and oh so smooth. Michael did a great job. I'm very curious what the best antutu scores for the Gnex and razr and rezound is. When I run the bench in antutu it says my phone is second only to the asus trans prime. But i know the Gnex has over 20 roms for it and someone must of got it's antutu score up to over 7000. Plus it's on ICS.

If you Google the App for wifi tether and download the new Beta it works with this ROM. I tested it yesterday.

I have the next two days off and I'm thinking I'd like to try Broken Out Spectrum. What do you mean by having recovery installed? Is Clockwork operational on the Spectrum? This is probably the one thing I've got to figure out, since I'm used to the ROM upgrade process.

Man, I want to do this the lazy way and just have someone tell me how to do it. But I really should know what I'm doing as I do it...

Good thing I have the time coming up.

Since I'm already rooted, I just need to install Clockwork Mod, then?

I know how that works, I just don't know if I need to bother with the Touch version. I'll poke around a bit to see if I can figure it out on my own, but any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

OK, I downloaded and installed Clockworkmod's ROM Manager. It opens fine, but when I try looking for ROMs, it tells me I have to install Recovery. I hit OK and the list of available phones does not include the LG Spectrum. Sure, it includes the Nitro but that's not the same phone (close, but not quite).

I searched "clockworkmod recovery lg spectrum" and eventually end up at RootzWiki, where it says to do a bunch of command line stuff. I'm OK with moving apps and such, but this just sounds too risky for me to mess with my primary phone.

It sounds like enough people have gotten it to work that it's reliable, but I'm just not sure exactly what I'm doing. You know, this really isn't important enough for me right now to mess with...

Maybe at some point I'll decide I need to really push my phone to do a lot more, but I'd rather wait for ICS than potentially mess up my phone because I'm doing something too unfamiliar to me. Yeah, I did just fine with my Incredible but that was because there was a lot more support out there. After all, I rooted and everything after having the phone for over a year. I've had the Spectrum for a few months now... and I'd prefer the community develop a bit more.

Yeah, I know I'm chickening out but I'll wait until there's a phone out I'd like to upgrade to before I risk bricking my primary smartphone. Unless first there's a simple way to do this all... So I'm checking out the provided link to see if anyone over there can help too.

Thanks

When I installed the Popcorn kernel my camera didn't work. When I opened the camera app and tried to take a picture I got the message "cannot connect to camera". Any ideas. I am running android version 2.3.6, kernel version 2.6.35.11-perf ( lge@android-build #1). I have tried the rom but then my verizon visual voicemail doesn't work. I know I can use Google Voicemail but I actually prefer Verizon's.

LITE MAN!!! you are making this hard on yourself. You don't use rom manager to do anything with our phone. Once you have recovery aka clockwork mod installed you boot into it from rom toolbox or some other app that will allow you to boot into recovery. You do not install the rom while you are in the phones main screen.

it's a very simple process to install the rom though. Once you have root and recovery you just download the rom and put it on your sd card and then follow the simple steps to install the rom which are found on the roms developers thread.

the rom isn't built for 2.3.6 yet. it's based off of 2.3.5. So if you flashed the rom onto your phone even though you are running a different build I guess you're lucky it worked at all.

Michaelson is doing a stellar job with this rom. It's going ot be hard for me to leave it when others come out unless they have equal performance. We are lucky to have such a great dev working on our phone...even if he's the only one :P

I was chatting with a friend of mine the other day who has a rezound with a leaked ICS rom on it and he benched in antutu at 6500. and we are hitting 7500 now.

MT is doing excellent, have you flashed 1.3 yet?

absolutely! I flashed it this morning as soon as i woke up! I can't resist updates :P especially when they promise performance increases!

And I notice a big difference even from 1.2.1

Battery life is much better. and the phone runs smoother which is hard to believe. The crazy thing is i know this phone has more to come for us. I still haven't got over 7500 in antutu though :[ I have run it 3 times and my highest is 7386.

what are all your tweaks? have you changed your sd card?

I actually turned my sd card cache to 128k and now it's going as fast as it should be. As far as me not getting 7500 yet. I think that boils down to antutu just not giving a consistant score. But it could be the 100 apps I have installed. it could be a certain app I have installed others don't that is causing it. You just never know with these things. Not like it's a big deal anyway because I actually don't use my phone for games.
