Super hot new Spectrum Rom

I figured out by myself that CWM Recovery was installed by One Click. Then I read it and went "D'oh!" But at least I know what I'm doing now, I just have to do it a wee bit differently than on my old Droid Incredible.

I just downloaded ROM Toolbox and it looks like it might actually be worth paying for. I need to try using the free version more, but it looks quite promising.

Now I just have to convince myself to do a backup and switch over to Broken out...

hahahaha... i know exactly where you are. this phone is the 1st one have a rooted and romed. The night i installed broken out, I literally sat there ready to go and stared at the directions for a 1/2 before i convinced myself to do it. I about my pants too. I wiped data, and couldnt find the broken out.zip, untill i realized it downloaded to a special folder. It was worth it though.

Yeah, it took me a year to root my Droid Incredible. Then it took me three weeks to put CM7 on it. I probably won't wait so long for Broken Out, but it might still be a week...

I just have to convince myself the only thing I really need to save off my phone is my contact list. And then I'll make a list of installed apps so I can start all over.

I'll do it. Really. Eventually. Sort of soon. :)

just do it lite. it's very easy. all you do is boot into recovery aka clockwork mod recovery using rom toolbox. and install zip from sd card in recovery. it's super easy. making a peanut butter sandwich is harder than installing the rom. when you download it to your sd card just use your file explorer to verify where it is on your sd card so you don't get lost searching for it in recovery. you could even hook your phone up to your pc while it's on and use it as mass storage and find the file and move it to where you know you will be able to find easily. But it's really a very simple process.

And i do recommend buying rom toolbox pro as it's a great app to have. It's by far the number root app for me. I've bought several as well. I own the pro version of titanium backup and super manager as well and for me rom toolbox is the best. You can eliminate so many other apps with having rom toolbox pro. Only thing I don't like about it is having to have an internet connection to use it. It does a license check everytime you start it and if you don't have the internet it will fail the license check and close the program. super manager doesn't do that which is the reason I bought it.

you can back your contacts up to your sd and reimport them from there. They should also back up through your gmail also. I used the app MyBackup Root to back up apps, sms, mms, and media info. Do a nandroid in cwm. Remember you can also go back to stock if need be.

Yeah, guys. I know these things. I'm just chicken. I don't know why, since I never had any issues with my Incredible. I know what I need to do. I just need to, you know, actually do it.

I'll get to it, probably next Wednesday or Thursday.

I just got the broken out rom and over clocked to 1.8 and ran a 7468 on antutu. Suck on that hotdog face. Lol

Now im new to the rooting. the spectrum is the first phone ive done it with. pretty good with all things technology though. i rooted and tried this rom about a month ago when i think the b-o-s rom was first released. i went back to stock root with cwm though because a lot of the stuff i like to use like games and netflix werent working with the rom. whats changed since then. is compatibility improved. if i had issues before was it me and if not has compatibility with apps improved. what can i expect if i try this rom again? i really liked the performance increase that it showed over stock! some of the stock lg features like apps and widgets are useful to me also. will all or only some work. any help would be obviously appreciated.

I think I can be of service to you sir!

First off You really should try the rom out again. I too flashed back to stock from the first build of the rom because i could tell it needed more work. I got quite a few force closes and the speaker phone didn't work correctly among other things. mtmichaelson has resolved the issues I previously experienced, and at this time I have none. Some have reported issues with bluetooth on the latest build.

The rom has got faster and smoother running with each update. Battery life has improved. Stability has improved greatly with the latest v2.0 update. I've run every version of this rom and michael is doing a stellar job. I even donated 20 dollars to him for his work because I'm so impressed.

As far as the stock apps go if you miss any of them then go to finndo's site here ---> http://www.joelperryproductions.com/wordpress/2012/04/02/lg-spectrum-one-stop-download-shop/ and you can download any of them.

[update] Been running 2.0 since it's release on may 3rd and have yet to experience any reboots.

a couple people are report a lot better compadibility. It looks at though the ' random reboot' issue has been resolved. The issue was being tied to incompatibility issues between apps, rom and hardware. I would reccomend flashing 2.0 and giving it a whirl.

btw subarex ... you rocking a wrx swaped subi?

OMG i just wrote a nice long reply and hit the back button on my mouse. how aggrevating. anyway it was basically thanks to hollywood and isaiah for the advice. i will be trying this weekend. as for donating all i have is brains and time at the moment. i am starting out on my own developement path with mobile, pc and linux and learning whatever i can. i would contribute my time for anything if needed even if just testing. im around all weekend. hollywood im a big subie freak. had a 2005 legacy turbo, a 2010 wrx, and a 2011 wrx, just pm me and ill tell you my story and where you can see the cars online. all three very nice.
this really is a great community of people. ill be updating my feelings on the rom as soon as ive used it again.
we really do have quite a piece of hardware at our disposal with this device dont we. if the whole world just gave it as much credit as we do.
THANKS AGAIN SO MUCH EVERYONE!!!!

I just thought of something else that puzzles me a little.
Say im running this rom and rooted and all that good stuff. What happens when ICS-OTA comes about for this thing?
I know this has been asked in a forum somewhere before but I'm not entirely clear what happens and what needs to be done post-update.
Thanks for help on this.
